That Route du Sud has a monster stage on the day they ride the Tourmalet. It will be interesting to see how Thomas and company perform.

Hope that Moscon, Poels and Yogi will show some good form and they will be in TdF line-up.
Froome, Poels, Henao, Nieve, Thomas, Kwiatwkowski, Rowe, Stannard, Moscon will be great to see. Or throw in Landa and remove Moscon if you want more climbing power to counter attack Porte superior form.

Quite a good line-up for that race.
Will be interesting to see how it goes for Poel, Henao and Thomas in the Pyrenees stage.

Did he already give some kind of an explanation why he was riding this poor compared to last year?

Congratulations on the repeat!
Very strong early in the season. Last year he carried this form into Paris-Nice.

Honestly, I think that's the plan in the making. Henao & Bernal with Rosa, Moscon & Co in the Giro and then probably Froome for the Vuelta if not the Tour already.

I think will be Poels the plan B for the Giro with the addition of Henao, De La Cruz and Rosa as climbing support.

According to the team, two things:

1) he will make his grand tour debut this year
2) he is in the long list for Vuelta

Conclusion: he will be going to the Vuelta.

Well, it didn't say much. I think we already knew that. Or at least we could have assume it.

Im glad he is racing the Giro instead of being a domestique for Froome. While he was very good in 2016, his main strength isn't being a climbing domestique. Itzulia is surprising, but he probably wants more time for the Ardennes.

Okay, I just forgot Froome will be riding the Giro as well. Doh. Either way, I like him more in Il Giro.

Sad… :(

He was still so good. I hoped he would manage like Clarke or Pozzovivo: nice new contract in the last moment.

He was 54 seconds behind rank 20 (which was Mollema) in last year‘s TdF, and placed 21st.

Maybe if he‘d have done Top 20, it would have been enough for a new contract. No one from the Top 20 of the TdF normally is forced to retire the same year. So this 54 seconds could have been decisive… :(

I don't think he had much left in the tank, to be honest. Maybe a final season, but that's it. His 21st in last year's Tour was nothing to write home about. He infiltrated many breaks in which he was a non-factor and gained lots of time.

Anyways, he had a very good career, winning Paris Nice and coming so close many times at Pais Vasco.

Imagine how different things would have been without his crash in Rio. I know people say Nobali would have won, but really it would have been Henao.

Also, three times he was in the leader's jersey in Itzulia on the final stage without ever winning it.

GT wise he was disappointing. A top 10 in his GT debut but then never again.
