Favourite for the race now ahead of Alaphilippe, Zakarin and Contador. Rowe again monstrous, what an unselfish rider, Sergio must be very pleased by how Sky supports him for this race. They probably wouldn't have done that if the lanky and cycling-killing machine Poels had been here.

Agree with him doing great at Paris-Nice but the last two stages have been all about being in the breakaway and/or in the front group. Most of the time, it has been him and one more team mate.

Possibly a bit too harsh there, but I just really don't like Poels, thats all. Brings all the bad up in me. Like Gerro. :D

Yep, and Sky have done a great job so far keeping him at the front. Rowe in particular has been there for him up to the kite, and along with Knees and Golas took up pace-setting when the big boys looked at each other. The only GC guys enjoying as much support have been Gallopin and the Quickstep boys, who ride for the (literally) biggest classics teams. And I doubt the Belgians will be able to offer up the same level of support Sky can put up once the race hits the real hills.

One more stage to go and hopefully the team will be vigilant and manage to protect his lead.He worked hard for it.

I hope he can break his curse of losing the lead jersey on the last stage of a WT event.

Off the top of my head, it's ITTs that have been his undoing in the past. Tomorrow's stage is very well suited to him. This is by far his best chance yet.

Yes. Vuelta a Colombia 2011, Pais Vasco 2013, 2015, 2016 and Tour of Poland 2015 all had time trials on the last stage.

At least we don't have the Col d'Eze MTT this year. :p

Not even counting the races he lost due to bad TT in his country. It is amazing!

Delighted for Sergio after all he's been through, looked for so long today like he would be the nearly man yet again. Had to dig so deep on that final climb.

As much as I hoped he'd lose the jersey, I am happy that it is him who won the race, if it wasn't to be Contador.

Now I look forward to a rematch in Itzulia.

Really good victory. After falling short on so many occasions, he finally got this one. I will remember his vicious attack on Fayence and his fighting sprit on this stage. Very strong character with lots of willpower.

Should not be forgotten that Rowe played a huge part in the victory as well. And his cousin, Sebastian as well. Great work.

Great win by Sergio! After being left for dead far from the finish, he somehow had the strength to fight off multiple attacks on the last climb. That kept the group together, which is why they were able to make up enough time on the descend.

I have to admit I feel sad for Contador, he once again was the great instigator; but Henao was also deserving of the win for everything he and his team did throughout the race.
