airstream said:TTing ability is relevant almost always, even relatively speaking one rider drops other one, there is 100 meters between them and both go their TT's, not to mention about real TT.
beowulf said:This is the main reason why I think Froome will lose the Tour. I think he will crash out on one of the descents.
I would be curious to know what odds you can get on Froom crashing out of the Tour.
Ferminal said:Where did I say he is a weak descender?
Not being great in flat TTs does not mean that one cannot pace themselves.
airstream said:Your reasoing about the second TT transparently hints on it.
hulkgogan said:People in the UK literally have no idea who Froome is. On the news yesterday half the stations didn't even mention him, it was Sir Brad is going for the double, cool.
Sky, the corporation, can't sell the Tour on Froome, and Sky, the team, is changing the narrative.
“...three days out from the race when we arrive in Corsica (ed: after the Giro) and Dave will then have to take a decision about how we do this. In an ideal scenario we will both be in incredible condition and both be capable of winning the Tour."

Oh, wait... they don't give out jerseys for 2nd place.
Froomitron to go completely nook-a-ler (saying that in my best George Dubya accent) and set off every doping alert in known to mankind. The dude is going to be glowing hotter than a reactor come July if the plan is to decide the leader on the road during the first week.

The bolded offers the exact opposite to what has often been proclaimed, that Nibs, Basso et al were all shot from the Giro in 2012 and thus with Berti baninated and Evans ill Sir Wiggo had no contenders to deal with
As for Wiggins riding the Giro and Tour with his eyes on high overall placings in both events, Kerrison says he is "not interested in anyone saying something can't be done. There are a lot of myths and assumptions. A Grand Tour is very demanding but a month is a long time to recover. The transition from Giro to Tour is very achievable. [Brad] can recon the stages, recover, and focus on doing his job in the Tour, whatever it is."

As for the GT doubles you might want to read this article I posted previously here but that everyone (conveniently) ignored ;-)

Thanks for providing this quote from renowned cycling enthusiast and historian Tim Kerrison:
The Giro/Tour double is a piece of cake for Sir Wiggo. No problemo. After all its just myths and assumptions its unusual. Happens all the time, just ask:
Fausto Coppi (ITA): 1949, 1952
Jacques Anquetil (FRA): 1964
Eddy Merckx (BEL): 1970, 1972, 1974
Bernard Hinault (FRA): 1982, 1985
Stephen Roche (IRL): 1987
Miguel Indurain (ESP): 1992, 1993
Marco Pantani (ITA): 1998
Nothing to see here, move along.
