Mouris was an endurance rider and Stroetinga fails after 30km of racing. Keep coming with lousy examples
Like I said, I meant Ligthart, not Mouris.

Look, it's clear Freire didn't participate in this sprint, so the discussion makes no sense anyway.

edit: well, he got 11th. I'm sure he was positioned very well for this sprint ;)

Dekker_T doesn't like Spanish riders winning for his nice Dutch team, so he talks **** about Freire whenever he doesn't win. Nothing to see here.

That's total BS. I'm just saying Freire is going downhill in real sprints.

Please don't make assumptions about me that aren't true. I hate when people do that.
It's one thing to say Freire isn't really someone for the real bunch sprints anymore, it's another to repeat it again and again. And thinking it's just normal that Ligthart would beat Freire in a sprint.

check this out from yesterday. duarte attacks in final k's and look how strong he is on the flat. the guy is incredibly strong. also the most stylistic cyclist I've seen in years.

Thanks for the link. I actually hadn’t seen footage from yesterday’s race, so that was more than welcome.

Duarte will make everyone here in Colombia proud!

Also good to see two of my personal favorites in Simone Ponzi and Gianluca Brambilla up there as well.

I also agree that Geox have a fantastic recruiting politic, although, I have to disagree a bit with you in regards to Matteo Pelucchi who albeit fast isn’t or wasn’t the biggest sprint talent among the U-23’s.

Thanks again!

Problem for Duarte is what can be his aims for the season?

Giro and Vuelta probably out of the window due to Sastre and Menchov going for those, or is he good enough to play the Nibali role for Menchov?

Maybe hell go for overall at TA?

Or might he go for the Ardennes classics?

Volta a Portugal ;)

Oh wait... David Blanco

In other news, really happy for Matteo Pelucchi.

Oh, and Ryo... if you have inside info that Geox aren't riding the Ardennes classics, then please inform the team, cos they've listed them all on their race calendar on the website.

No offense but count me surprised when a 21 year old neo-pro I'd never heard of beats a 3x World Champ and 2x MSR winner.

Pelucchi's a big talent, but you may not have seen him crop up too often last year because he skipped most of the biggest races he could enter last year because his fiancée was hit by a car on a training ride and put in a coma. He only returned to the bike after she insisted several weeks later.

Attractive countryside around there. I've been walking in the area of Beloeil and Stambruges. Perhaps rather flat and a bit too sheltered from coastal winds for a 'proper' Belgian bike race though, unless there are some Hainaut folks here to tell us differently. ;)
