I raced last Sunday. 60 miles/ 95 KM race on a rolling course with an uphill finish, which is good for me. was sitting 5th wheel 500 metres from the line feeling quite good and completely cramped up in the sprint. Finished 21st:eek:

I've only ever competed in 1 race. I took up cycling fairly late where as my other hobbies are strength/weight training and mma which I took up When I was 16. Since then I've always weighed about 95kg and haven't yet managed to ride at a remotely competitive level.

Doing my first race this Sunday after my lay off with a fractured collarbone, it's a 60km race with 6 laps of 10km. It's considered a RR so if you get a flat you don't get a lap out unlike a crit. I did 142km on Saturday and I felt fine so if I can handle that, I'll do my best to hang in there on Sunday. Basically no pressure, if I finish, I finish, if I don't, it won't bother me.

I don't race on a bike; my username hints that I run cross country and track. Racing won't really start for a few weeks still, but I run for a pretty good (I'd like to think at least) DI college. I've run 14:20sih for a 5k, which is good enough to get me to some past-season meets, but I'm nothing special. Maybe I'll try and post some pictures once the season gets moving

14:20 ish is very special for a 5K time, at least that is what I am assuming you're referring to. I have been running this year too, and I set a goal of a sub 20 min 5K. I ran a 19:15, I was extremely pleased and in complete awe of people that can run anywhere near the time you do. I did win my age group though, 45-49 old man class :p. It felt good, I haven't won anything in a long time.

To keep it in the cycling genre here are a couple of pics from Brentwood GP.

I'm the third wheel in this pic, Greg Liebert and Richard Meeker are in front of me. Seriously strong riders.

2 laps to go I tried my hand at getting away, didn't work. Our sprinters ended 2nd and 5th.

no tats but solo away today. See you all in Bend.

Post some pics from Bend if you can, unfortunately life's circumstances have made me a single parent and I can't make the trip to Bend. My daughter starts school this week and somethings are much more important than bicycle racing! Good luck to all going to Master's Nats, be safe and ride hard!

How did you go in the race?

Myself? I did my first race post broken collarbone and TBH I struggled and got dropped early on, but I'm staying positive and I know I will be better next week. I have been racing for 6 or 7 years so you don't lose all your ability overnight. My flatmate came 3rd and he got $35 AUD as prize money.

At the same race, Johnathan Cantwell (V Australia, and was signed to Pegasus last year), has been back in Australia for two weeks after winning 10 races in America, and dropped out of the Tour of the Murray River (on the CN frontpage) after winning four stages and flew back up to the Gold Coast last night to spend some time with his family before flying to China on Tuesday for a race, was also there and came 4th in a breakaway in A grade (I was in B grade), although I suspect he was being charitable. He said he has a couple of offers for next year with his current team and one other team and should know more in the next two weeks.

Raced yesterday and I still got dropped but I did a lot better than last week so onwards and upwards I say.

After my race there is a teams race event, mainly amongst the other LBS here (although not all are LBS teams), I did it last year, but I'm not in this year but I still go and support the team at the races.

Here is a cool photo even though it was for 6th place as a 5-man break got away, which was annoying as the previous break that went we had a guy in it but there were too many passengers and it got brought back.

Good to see you being a team player. Maybe you can take that attitude into Team Boomerang! :D

Late answer; I came 7th but it was a weird race cause a breakway went away right at the start and we ever got them at 30seconds but not real chasing.

Out of curiosity, is the racing season just started in Australia?
You've been in China right? Did you consider racing there?

Australia's main road racing season is the same as the northern hemisphere (during the southern winter).

The southern summer is predominantly crits and a few amateur races with MTFs that are inaccessible/unsafe in winter.

Our racing season more or less goes all year as the weather is pretty good. Yeah I went to China earlier this year, but I was only there for two weeks, but I end up spending longer there so that could happen, although I didn't see too many people riding proper road bikes.

Yesterday we had the first race of the Lebanese National Championship. It usually happens as 5 stages and the winner is the one who scores most points at the end.
The first stage was a flat 112 kms with some short uphills. I managed to do a long breakaway with one teammate and another rider, then got caught in the last 25 kms. Then at the end, I was the last man to prepare the uphill sprint for my leader, who's the reigning national champion but his chain snapped when he was on the way to win it so he finished 4th and i finished 6th despite some cramps at the end.

Next race will finish with a 15 kms climb, I should be in the podium, since climbing is rather my specialty and finished 3rd last year in that specific race.
