Something's Beginning to Stink

They're good mates and that's the sort of team we are. Simon just asked me if it was okay to give the jersey to Daryl tomorrow, and I said it was no problem at all," he added, surely aware of the added publicity a change in leadership will bring for the team and the race as a whole.

So here we have your first set up - Gerrans gifts the jersey to Impey because he knows the impact that will have on Impeys career...who incidentally....

White was keen to stress that yellow hadn't been a gift, and that Impey, who had been in the Continental ranks less than two years ago, had earned the right to lead the race.

(now beginning to sound like a certain Mr Froome)

So today we will have the world's media concentrating on African Mr Impey for 5 hours.....that's hell of a lot of publicity and revenue for Orica - Australia and Impey - Africa.

And this is in the Clinic because its a theory that has been discussed previously here.

Then I have to ask again, why is this in the clinic?

While doping isn't the only thing that can be discussed in the clinic (just that doping can only be discussed in the clinic), it is the usual convention.

If you aren't accusing Orica of doping, why post this thread here?

Insinuations about fixed races / bribes / "financial doping" normally go in The Clinic.

If there really is a conspiracy to promote international cycling (by the UCI?) where are the Brazilian, Russian, Indian, and Chinese (BRIC) yellow jersey wearers?

"Daryl has been one of the finds for us. When you look where he was 15 months ago, racing the Tour of Morroco, to jumping to Netapp and then us picking him up, he's developed an incredible amount

Matt White speaking.....and if anyone recalls I predicted Mr Impey would shoot to stardom some months ago.

South African Connection
So another result for Daryl Impey - good friend of Froomes....both in the south African stable - I predict a good year for Mr Impey.

In 2007 you turned over £17M in sales, 2009 £33M in revenue, 2010 – £55M and in 2011 – £87M….That’s between 50%-100% growth per annum. How big can it get?
That’s a really good question. I think it can get quite a lot bigger. Let’s talk about the market size that we operate in. The UK is about a £1.5B market, the Australian market is estimated somewhere between £600M and £1B. The worldwide market we operate in is about a £25B-£30B market. We’re still a very small player in the context of a very large market.
In Australia people say we’re a huge factor but we have below single digits market share in Australia. But we’re not big in the context that Rebel Sports is in Athletic footware and clothing, they’re a 30% market share player. I don’t think we’ll get to that, but there’s plenty of growth for the business. Our plans are very open. We want to build this into a business that’s north of £300M in turnover which is the next target worldwide. I don’t see it stopping there. This is a business that can keep on growing.

I think in India they speak better English than the English FWIW.

Cycle chic: can you do the bus plz?

and next year you can bet your bottom dollar SKY will broadcast the Tour. This year the figures aren't good enough...cycling is still a minority sport for them...they air the races but only give them an hour or so slot. The Tour requires much more.....but wait til the cycling world booms now that Australia and Africa have hit the headlines just like Wiggins did.

Oh and 20TH CENTURY FOX - is owned by MURDOCH - so that's USA onboard.

What exactly is your point? Impey should have gotten the yellow for his inside move on Cannondale just for style.

The matter has been resolved.

Sky have offered me to spend a week with them at the Tour.

Which I accepted.

I realise I shouldn't be encouraging or posting in this ridiculous thread, but India is part of the English-speaking market. It's still one of the two languages of government and the non-Hindi speakers want to keep it that way.

They spend alot on Trek, imo. And cycling is starting to become big. Indian Cycling forum and what the heck is wiggle?

Yes whats Wiggle?

I'd say they need a Chinese winner before an Indian one. Then again we don't want Chinese and Indian bikes flooding the market.

$1000 for a fully carbon, Di2 (imitation) important bike. Not good for cycling.

Huh?

News Corp are an Australian company.

News Corp is on the Sky jersey.

Rupert Mudoch is Australian by blood until media ownership laws made him change his citizenship.

Sky have a different name in Australia. But it's still Sky.

Sky couldn't be anymore Australian. More Australian than British.

Yes, Pedro?

Right on everything. Which brings Cycle Chic's point back to the forefront.

It's about money. Murdoch owns a lot of press in the English speaking world. Fox anyone? Half the papers in Australia and the UK. Sure News Corp is now listed on the US stock exchange, but the company started Down Under.

Why are half the board Aussies? Why did Sky start with so many Aussies? Money. It all started Down Under. Now it covers Australia, the UK, NZ and the USA. Cycle Chic has a point. That is Anglo Saxon territory in FULL and all under ONE company, who just happen to sponsor the dodgiest team riding since USPS. A team pulling the Union Jack out and waving it and a country which just had it's most successful sporting year in a long time...last year, during the Queens silver jubilee and a home Olympics.

Yeah people, it was never about the money to be made!

Read up on what Sky were doing in the UK over a year ago. Nasty stuff. They're rotten and dodgy as all ******y. They are most definitely in the business of making headlines and making a buck and the ASO and UCI know that. Why? Advertising revenue allows fat cats like McQuack to sit on comfy chairs in Geneva leeching off of world cycling. Wake up people. Wake up. It's always been about the $$$ and yes, the Anglo Saxon world love it. Take a look at all the Skybots on the forum. They bought it HOOK LINE AND SINKER last year. Even more so than the yanks did.

Wow - this must mean the Australian Government are in on this conspiracy too? This is deep.
Perhaps they did this because Cadel considers himself French and this is a way to get back at him - pretty sneaky.

Don't go there Doctor. You instantly lose.

It's called the Rann government in South Australia who used TAX PAYER money to bank roll Lance Armstrong's two appearances at the TDU. Reportedly a million dollars per appearance. Might have been higher. Just like Zomegnan paying Lance 2 million to show at the Giro. Guess who lost his job just after?

Coincidence?

Sorry dude. You lose. The Government has funded doping in Australia that they damn well should have known about. It's not like Armstrong wasn't obvious. And SBS...they lapped up LA's crap for YEARS! They rolled around in it. Heck they even censored the obvious parts this website allowed in the forums. Wake up. SBS are left leaning lackeys.

Thought that new commentator with Tomolaris is good. He knows the game and how it's played and takes the mickey out of it.

If you're talking about the phone hacking that was News Corp, who are different to Sky. Admittedly, News Corp have a large stake in Sky, but not a controlling interest, as that bid was blocked, eventually, by the Government.
