I find it ridiculous that riders can now ride for the state they live in. gives cycling states like boyaca even more of an advantage. he should ride for santander.

still very strong performance again. cardenas is the best he's ever been in his career save in climbing, where he his his peak in 2003, but still better than his last years in europe

he seems to have lost so much weight. I expect a lot from him in 2013, especially climbing. back to how he was as a junior and his first 2 u23 years. a pure climber

I remember during one of the running events in the Olympics, a runner was representing the Dominican Republic. He wasn't born there, only his parents. He was born in the United States. I was wondering as to how that can be.

Its called athlete for hire, most lesser countries accept pretty much anyone with a couple degrees of their nationality so they can have some representation.

Also, athletes in countries where they have no chance of getting on the official Olympic team and still want to be in the Olympics (knowing well they won't win) and have the requirements or connections with a country they can represent get on their teams.
