Nah video showed Nibali looking back, seeing Froome in trouble and then going.

I rewinded it back and watched on TV.
Froome and Nibali were riding side by side.
Froome was looking down playing with his chain for about 15 seconds before he stopped.
Nibali had went past Froome by then.
Nibali attacked after this teammate give him the heads up after Froome stopped.

Nibali has every right to attack the peloton for a stage win when he is 8 minutes back on GC.

By that logic whenever there is a crash, every rider should stop and ask to help. Mechanicals, crashing, hunger bonks and everything else are part of the fabric of cycling. And the race is not meant to stop for any of them.

Yep, they are certainly maximising the ad revenue I'm switching between them and Eurosport, their breaks seem to be out of sync now. Still not sure whether I find Carlton or Paul more irritating though.

If the graphics are correct Nibali is holding about 1 min 40 sec, so that seems to indicate that he is gaining time.
