For the Euro folks, Steve Porino just told @NBCSNCycling that he talked with Movistar and they said Quintana is not 100% today.

I never trust a word Porino says. How he talks about pulling up to team cars on a motor bike and talking to the managers reeks of bs. We'll see.

Well he didn't attack when he was 100%.

Or maybe tactics by Movistar.

Perhaps different gear ratios for descending and climbing.

Yeah that makes sense. The only thing I could think off was he took a risk with a more aero bike for the descents and switched to a true light weight climbing bike to attack on the final climb

To be fair, they're just doing what every other team in the top 10 has done this year - Movistar, Tinkoff, BMC, Giant, even Lotto Belisol - all have looked to defend their position at one stage or another.

It's part of cycling.

My stance on attacking has always been to quote Sastre 'It's a race not a tea party'. But Nibs is one of my favs and this just isn't sitting well. I should be happy he is winning this stage. But I'm not, I had higher expectations of him. Granted Astana has always attacked on others problems. Vino must have warped Nibs sense of honor.......
