Then Pogacar waited until the hardest part was over. Here he had his team pace for 25km to set up this attack. Then when Vingegaard seemed to crack, he actually came back. Last year when he bonked he was just gone.
Vingegaard has gained back some muscle mass since then so it's not surprising, plus i think he's underrated on climbs like this.

I have to say about DSM (formley) but now Postal Picnic they know how to spot and encourage young talent ..So many riders can be great with them , then leave and do nothing
Who do you think of when saying they did great with DSM, but didn't after leaving?

Who here actually believed that Tadej can drop Jonas on this hill? What I saw today is enough for me to know what's up.
Actually, what we could see is that Tadej couldn't keep up his attack long enough. Vingegaard has seen this and next time he will bite through the pain a little longer to stay on the wheel.

Of course on the longer climbs Tadej doesn't get out of the saddle anymore in his attacks and it becomes a different ballgame, he has just become a different rider there than 2-3 years ago.

Would like to see the replay of when he was dropped on the climb. If seemed slightly bizarre how he was momentarily dropped then rode back up to Pog quite easily before the top.

Initially I thought he had blown up completely.
He looked to the right as if something was wrong. I thought for a second he had chain/gear problems.

The attack was very, very long though, it needs to be said

Roglic 1min 27 seconds down on GC already ... oh dear.
If UAE did not want Pogi in the spotty jersey tomorrow, then they really messed up.

I don't think he was aware he had a gap, but that doesn't mean he could have kept sprinting all the way to the top. Anyway, the race wouldn't have been decided here regardless.
Surely his DS was screaming over the radio about it ? I kind of felt that's why he eased back a bit which might have been a mistake

Pogacar was a bit cooked and slowed down
Vingegaard got cooked then sped up
Pogacar thought Vingegaard was dropped and eased into a rhythm
Vingegaard had a little mechanical and dropped a bit

Pick 1 based on who you like, I don't think it tells us much for the mountains other than the top 2 are in great condition as expected.
