With no GC action today I move on to the points jersey. I think it will all depend on stage 17 for Cav, if he gets over the little climb at the end to fight for the sprint then he could still win 2 more stages - providing he wins the final stage of course. If he does that then I don't see the climbers challenging him for it.

Alternatively, if he really wants the jersey, and really can't get over that climb, he could go in the break and try to take 10 points.

I'm sure someone would chase it back early out of spite, but I can't see any racing logic for it unless Cadel wants to admit his new target for the race.

The loser Lefevere complaining about the hard conditions in the Giro.

Patrick Lefevere ‏@PatLefevere 20m
“@zdenekstybar: What a stage @giroditalia Maybe there should be rules over weather conditions? Don't you think? #giro”and after the finish ?

You should get your facts right before slamming someone, Lefevere was only retweeting a message from Stybar who is not in the Giro

The problem is, Gesink himself seems to search desperately for the 'old' Gesink, and that was a guy whose diesel got turned on about halfway through a climb, and could just go on and on and on where others slipped away. This makes an early attack worthwhile. But he's not that rider anymore, the diesel doesn't switch on and he fades away.

I think part of the reason he went is because he wanted to prove something for himself. Ride hard, with panache to gain confidence and prove to himself that he can do this. Release bottled up anger and direct that energy towards a new goal, ie. winning a stage. I would agree with the attitude, I don't think he picked the right moment.

Anyway he still has a couple of stages to go where he can channel his frustration towards a nice goal.

I'm really hoping for Pirazzi and Voeckler in a group one day. These two morons will make each other crash. :p There aren't many riders as dumb as Pirazzi, anyway he is entertaining. :D

very unlikely. Tommy V's broken leg might put him out for about a year, EC is unlikely to be invited to the Giro and Pirazzi is unlikely to move to a WT team.

Thomas broke his collarbone some time ago in the AGR, but iirc he hasn't broken his leg. That was just a rumour.
