So with the receipt they prove they bought the steak in Spain and not in France.
Still, the spanish farmer should've had to pump the cow full of Clen, so much so that a small piece of said cow would be eaten by the cyclist and trigger a positive test. French or Spanish meat, what difference does it make? We are talking about farmers getting a competitive advantage through PEDs. It's not about doping in cycling, it's about doping in the meat industry! Once again, the french farms are clean, it's the spanish farms and the authorities that don't take the cow-doping issue seriously.

Chewbacca defense anyone?

Could you imagine the terror CONI would unleash on farms if they said the beef was from Italy?

I read somewhere that Astana had already turned over the receipt to the UCI.
I would provide a link but it's been a week. I will try to find it. But the article did state that Astana would not reimburse without one.

"Astana have it somewhere and it will turn up if they want it to," said Olalla.

I thought this was the most meaningful part of the article.
I wonder - just how motivated are Astana to find that receipt, given that Contador has has left and taken some key riders and staff with him. In the eyes of the public he's now Riis's boy.

Listen. I am protecting the farmer on this one (someone has to). Let's not try to distract from the issue by splitting hairs.

I think he ate a perfectly fine, clenbuterol-free steak from Irún that his buddy López Cerrón bought and whose receipt Astana kept.

Yep the steak is clearly a cover story.

Also, who eats steak before climbing the Tourmalet? That is Vino-esque, good thing he eats organic Wild Boar meat, look he got tested and no Clen.

Lol I don't know about the markets in Spain but I went to buy fruit and produce at the market here in Aix today, and the receipts are tiny little tickets saying the final amount you had to pay. Honestly I'd lost that little ticket 7 times before making my way to Pau.

Maybe in Spain you get a framed certificate saying

Receipt for 1 (one) Steak purchased by (insert name) and destined for consumption by (insert name).

I like how he says "They'll have it turn up when they need it" - that says it all, no one can know whether it's a real receipt or just BS

A better question is who doesn't?

Word is the defense team is prepared to present the receipt in front of berto at his hearing. Makes him queasy and vomitis whenever he sees it.

Why did the uci Ask Contador to keep his positive test quiet in the first place. That is Just typical Uci. I mean it's ridiculous. I suppose they were trying to keep it under wraps and hope that it would go away without it further damaging the credibility of the Sport. So what. They are not doing themselves any favours. I honestly hope contador gets his ban. If he does not then this sport will go to the dogs completely.

Some here will say they took a payment to bury it. Berto came forward when it was clear the German media had information about it. The uci might claim due process in it's defense.

Vino needs no cook. It's well known that Vino killed his own chicken and ate it that night, feathers and all. Helps him fly up mountains.
This is why Rasmussen will never ride for Astana. There is an explanation for why vino got popped for having another guy's blood in him

...anybody that has to file a tax return for starters...or runs a business that is accountable...where I live the law of the land demands you keep those receipts for 5 years..

...so what I smell is a proposed potential straw-man going up in flames...

...sure there is a problem, but lets keep the discussion out of the realm of the ridiculous shall we..

Cheers

Nah, I don't buy it.

I could if the team had purchased it, but this was meat bought by a friend coming to visit. Do you ask your friends for receipts when they come to visit you?

It just smells fishy to me.

If I asked them to buy me some steak, and I have accouts to keep, then yes. Otherwise you just ripped your friend off and ate his steak.

It simply doesn't work without the rhyming.

How about:

"If they have the receipt, then the steak he did eat."

I could try to put clenbuterol in there... but that might be tough to rhyme.

Yes it is quite possible they took a BACKHANDER to Bury It. But the sum was cleary not large enough. CORRUPTION. Or a Mole. A fly on the wall so to speak. Leak of information. Media bonanza. Front page news.

"There was a steak confusion, but there was no transfusion"

"If he took the Clen, well ban him then"

But sadly for the champ
the Clenbuteral was not ingested by all
and then ole dear Pat
looking for an opportunity to make his pockets fat
said "Hey champ, I'll sell you your sample of pee
but don't ever tell Riis"
And the champ did zip it
but the German reporter
in the bud did nip it
and so the champ had to pout
as the news came out
and the world heard the tall tale
of the steak and ale
