If I asked them to buy me some steak, and I have accouts to keep, then yes. Otherwise you just ripped your friend off and ate his steak.
I doubt very much that the organiser of Vuelta a Castilla y León is so skint he would expect to be reimbursed for €20 of meat.

Had the receipt been offered up immediately then I could almost accept it.

On top of that, a quick search on Spanish Google & French Google throws up the following
http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clembuterol
http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clenbuterol

Both mention contaminated meat.

I cannot believe that a sportsman as prominent as Contador has the presence of mind to engage scientists to defend himself yet takes weeks to find the receipt. It's not as if the source of the contamination is peripheral to the case, is it?

Who would keep a receipt for a steak?. Well this Spanish chef is talking nonsense. He must be trying to make a name for Himself. Money perhaps interview. Keeping a receipt for something that You had to eat. Is that in the rule of cycling. Keep Your receipts from eating livestock products incase there is clenbuterol contamination. That is nonsense. Well this also begs the question about the origin of this Phantom piece of steak. And how the heck does one prove that it was tainted with clenbuterol.

good lord... maybe they keep receipts cause it's um... a business?

I posted this in "Contador Doped" but it also has bearing here:

couldn't remember which thread had the "meat" discussion but the duplicity is increasing:

if the "meat was awful in France" why didn't he bring more, perhaps enough for the two meals used as the excuse and the Tourmalet recovery meal?

perhaps more importantly, where is the receipt with the name and location of the source?

Oct 6th 2010

“Astana demanded from me a receipt for everything and I gave it to them. Now everyone in the world is looking for this receipt. The receipt exists and Astana has it, and it will reappear if they want it to.”

“There’s nothing to hide. It was just a string of bad coincidences,” Olalla continued. “It was my responsibility to cook the food and the hotel denied us use of the kitchen. At the same time, I talked with (Cerrón) and told him I needed a few things and if he could bring me some steaks from Spain because the meat in France was awful. This is what happened and it’s been a string of coincidences that have led to all this.”

"Yesterday went to market and bought Pau beef tenderloin, baked potatoes and pasta making, nearly 500 grams per person. Culminated in a salad: "It is the ideal meal to recover from the battle of the Tourmalet. Have been as new."

I go back and forth on it. I think, he could just have eaten some Spanish meat like he says. But then I think it's still a strange story that they would bother bringing up red meat from Spain in someone's car in the summer, and these witnesses could just be the Spanish sticking together to avoid another one of their super stars getting banned. I really don't know. If anything the more serious news was the blood doping test.

do they not have ice and coolers in Europe?

That would be a typical Silly statement from a Yank. As the saying goes over here those dumb Yanks still think Europe is in the Dark AGES.

Also, who eats steak before climbing the Tourmalet? That is Vino-esque, good thing he eats organic Wild Boar meat, look he got tested and no Clen.

maybe someone who after almost three weeks of carbo loading and after another hard mountain days decided "hey tomorrow's a rest day and damn the thought of more pasta makes me sick." as high as his metabolism is he could probably eat dirt and turn it into energy

Nah, I don't buy it.

I could if the team had purchased it, but this was meat bought by a friend coming to visit. Do you ask your friends for receipts when they come to visit you?

It just smells fishy to me.

if they paid him [a race promoter aka another businessman] then yes. do your fingers hurt grasping at straws all day?

It simply doesn't work without the rhyming.

How about:

"If they have the receipt, then the steak he did eat."

I could try to put clenbuterol in there... but that might be tough to rhyme.

we have a receipt for it all, just not the clenbuterol

I might be wrong on this, but didn't Willy Voet write that steak was not a good recovery food, and that there were better sources of protein?

How am I "clutching at straws"?

In my opinion it doesn't add up. It is not sufficiently credible in my view. Hence I chose not to believe it.

Didn't Contador say he ate the meat with the other Spanish riders. Test them too for both Plasticizer and and clenbuterol. They should show up with should all show up with clenbuterol. And if the show up for Plasticizers too. Surprise!

Nicholaaaas Did You ever climb the tourmalet or any Alpine or Pyrenean Col. I did. 17 times over 2000 METERS on various Cols throughout Europe. I was not riding like a Tourist either. But these cols are quite easy for any one who is Fit.
I found them easy. They are not as difficult as one imagines. I felt the same at 9000 Feet as I did as sea level. No problem with altitude. Any one who resorts to dope is a wuss. And I certainly was not doping . For starters I WOULD NOT be that stupid. And I certainly could not afford it. I have to say that the above post from You is what is referred to as Typical Yankee Bull over here in Europe.

we're only talking about one receipt. when the "costomer" purchases something for a business and transfers said receipt to the "business," it becomes a "business receipt."

and as far as ice and coolers goes, when someone asks why he had a friend would bring meat from Spain; and cast doubts on the story because it's summer; and meat can't possibly be transfered in such heat... yes, it's a perfectly legitimate reply. sit down now little boy

Yep, they we're from two days which I acknowledge in the post - My point was that the local meat wasn't good enough for the rest day, but the same Chef is then praising the local beef tenderloin as ideal for the recovery meal?

Does any of this really matter?

Clenbuterol was found in his system. (He has never denied this)

It is the responsibility of the rider to know what he puts in his body.

He should be suspended.

there actually was enough for two meals... AC said he ate the meat on two days. the chef never said it tasted good. he just put a lot of salt on the terrible french meat!

so how does your speed over them compare to riders in the Tour? when was the last time you rode 3000km in three weeks and averaged 40kph over similar terrain? what's your point? are you trying to say the tour is a stroll in the park? have you ever held a license from the UCI [I have]? you wanna talk about ignorant yankee shiit. look in the mirror at your delusional self and worry about your own ignorance.

Yea the Tour is a stroll in the park in the park and that is what is referred to as Yankee Bull over here in Europe. Look at the iDIOT that was running the Usa Gerorge Bush. Now what an idiot. tYPICAL yANK SORRY TO SAY AND yOU ARE RUNNING THE RISK OF SOUNDING LIKE LANCE. tHE KNOW IT ALL EGOMANIAC. Did you ever Hear what fignon said when he won his second tour in 84.
