Yes.
Was that not obvious? Wiggins, Ryder et al are part of a large pack of riders who can get a top 10 if they hang on, but can't afford to give cheap time away.

perico said:The one "not going to win" GC rider after today who is in trouble for a high place, at this point is Kreuziger. The official Tour results jump around a bit. How did Hesjedal gain 30 seconds on Danielson and VdV today in the TTT?
Stage 1 GC:
After today's TTT:
Official results had all three riders at 1:55 before the stage started this morning.
JRanton said:I also noticed that about Hesjedal when I was looking through the standings.
There are two possible explanations.
1) He actually finished 1.20 down on the first stage and came in with the Contador group as opposed to the Danielson, Vande Velde group at 1.55.
or
2) He finished the first stage 1.55 down but there's been an error with the stage two overall standings.
The most likely answer is the second one I think, given that you'd think they would have corrected the stage one error by now if there was one.
roundabout said:Evans gapped Hushovd on an easier climb. Question is how much Evans wants yellow. A km at 10% is a lot even though the finish flattens out. Maybe Millar can do it instead.
Libertine Seguros said:Evans might want yellow but remember there's still a few people who are very capable at this kind of finish within a handful of seconds.

perico said:So the guy with one 7th place is the only one with a chance, while the guy with a 4th, 8th (with cracked vertabrae in his back), and a crashout in last year's tour has no realistic chance? As long as VdV and Danielson don't injure themselves (which is always a possibility), I'd take their chances as much as Ryder's. They are all on good form, so they've got some work, but I'd hardly discount any of them from a good finish.
Midnightfright said:I think its going to be an excellent finish. There will be plenty riders jumping off the front trying to get yellow. With regards to Evans I don't think he will be able resist wearing yellow if he can
just some guy said:Taking yellow gaining seconds on as many gc people as possible before stage 12 and then hanging on to Andys wheel till the TT.
Hesjedal has done exactly one good GC in his whole career. Until we see confirmation that he can do it again, he's more of a fluke than Wiggins.veganrob said:CVV results were more than just a few years ago taking into account his injuries and his 4th before was weak. So yes, Ryder has a better chance and Tom D, zero
fishtacos said:They're done - at least for GC chances.
Ryder, Tommy D and CVV all 1:55 down after the first stage.
Unless one of them makes it into a runaway breakaway or they absolutely kill everyone in the TTT, there's no way they can give up almost two minutes in the first stage and hope to podium.
Of course, I'm willing to be proved wrong, and would like to see at least one of their riders make a stunning comeback, but that's not a good way to start the Tour.
Then again, maybe it's Ramunas Navardauskas' turn to have a breakout Tour!
Cobblestones said:A little premature to stick a fork in them, yet, but I assume by the end of stage 4, Garmin-Cervelo might be out of yellow? Can Hushovd survive on the Mur?
