You mean like the GROUP SHOWER held after Paris-Roubaix? The one with all the PHOTOGRAPHERS hanging about?

Why does every mention of prison come with the prison-rape fantasy? It's bizarre.

You're the only one describing prison-rape as a 'fantasy'. It's bizarre.

A little cat told me that it was Zabriskie and McCarty.

Would be the first result Pat could be proud of.

Though he hasn't been named yet in anything I've seen. There are a couple of other guys who could open up -- Hesjedal was on Disco & Phonak. Can't remember if he was on USPS as well.

I know how the New York Times sources its stories. This graf says that Juliet Macur or another reporter for the NYT has spoken directly with the two accusees:

"Two people Landis has accused of doping said on Friday that they had been contacted by antidoping officials who had asked them to cooperate with an investigation in exchange for leniency. Those people did not want their names published because they are still deciding if they want to come forward."

The "paper of record" is all over this story!

Wasn't Macur also the reporter with an unnamed source who claimed to have doped at Postal? One guess would be that that source and one of the above sources are the same person -- a lot of folks think Vaughters is that source.

I think Ryder is Canadian. Less likely he will get the heavies on his back, just from a citizenship standpoint.

I sense the focus of the pressure would be on US riders.

Ryder is Canadian, lives in Whistler.

I'm pretty sure that in the USPS days he was still riding MTB for VW/Trek.

Ah so. Couldn't remember when he switched.

Never could tell if he was in on the preparations or not. He was a massively talented MTBer.

Sorry you're not up on your pop culture and nom de guerres. Nevermind. Still you've mastered the art of smilies - if not quite using them in the right place. No need to be so po-faced.

Does the idea that two guys are deciding whether to cooperate come from actual independent sources or just from what Landis said in his emails? 'Cause when I read his stuff I just dismissed that part as a way to put (fake) pressure on and get someone to crack, the way the cops do ("your friend is starting to talk, so you'd better tell us everything first because the first guy gets the deal...," even when the friend hasn't given any intention he's going to talk).

You have a valid concern, but i work in IT Security and when I initiate an investigation into something I suspect is illegal, the chain of custody of the evidence is also most sacred. The Feds can use Floyd as a public face to invite more co-operation from others without ever providing, as Phil said "A shred of evidence..." up until the admissions of others, the questioning, the grand jury investigation, the charges and the trial. That's when the evidence, nicely protected from the press with a strict chain of custody, comes out. Claiming there is no evidence at this point is foolish. The legal system knows better than to throw out the good stuff for ghouls to drool over. As foolish is to surmise there is enough evidence to prove anyone else was involved.

Oh I'm cool with pop culture, person-who's-named-itself-after-hot-but-still-female-bass-player-with-heroin-problem. Smilies, I guess, not so much. You win again.

No, that was her sister.

Win? I wasn't even aware that it was a competition. It just amused me that you considered prison-rape and showering with men as some kind of fantasy. Most people were talking about it as a situation that most of the riders would like to avoid, rather than actively seek.

This is vital to my interests.

My question is, said on Friday to whom? To the reporter? It doesn't read that way. Or is the reporter just repeating claims from Landis himself about how all this is supposedly going down?

The conversation was with the reporter.

hi, just found this site today.

reading this thread, it seems most people think everybody should get immunity
if they talk, apart from armstrong.

but why can't armstrong get immunity if he cooperates?

is this only about armstrong? why is he the big target for most people?

He's the biggest target. He and JB.

The reason why no-one has discussed giving immunity to Armstrong is because no-one could seriously believe that he will ever talk.

Also - I don't believe any posters have said 'immunity' - but a reduction in sanctions or penalties would be appropriate.

As I read it, the story is about two cyclist who were contacted. Armstrong said yesterday he's not had any contact with anyone, so that would rule him out. Moreover, assuming there is some credibility/accuracy to what Floyd has alleged, Armstrong/Bruyneel are the big fish (i.e., the target).

i can see that from the comments. i am asking why that is. why do people want to get armstrong at all costs and let everyone else off?

they are all adults and they all doped, no?

is this about doping? or getting armstrong?
