The men's race has already started, I'd rather watch that.

Of course, in a perfect world there'd just be live coverage for the entirety of both races. But unfortunately we don't live in a perfect world.

And Swinkels got a small gap.

Cycling is the only sport where they do a 1 hour preview during the event and everyone hates it.

but its so frustrating when theres actually racing happening we cant see because theyre too busy having a friendly chat about it, its even more annoying for the womens race because those previews take up nearly half the actual broadcast time we end up getting.

and name another sport where the actual live coverage of it, is replaced by talking heads not even talking about whats happening, talking about it as if it hadnt even started yet ?

Eurosport used to be the epitome of jump straight into live pictures, and a voice just picked up commentating on it, we dont need studios and guests and previews and interviews, show us the live sport happening.

Faulkner and Swinkels have over a minute.

There was a crash earlier today, Faulkner was down - but is obviously fine - and so was Norsgaard, who has abandoned. Dunno who else was involved.

The most helpful way to think about this is that it’s extra coverage setting the scene for the race . If we didn’t have it then the broadcast would simply start later with a shorter overall broadcast program as they can only cross over to live coverage when the host broadcaster does so.

I agree that it is frustrating but the real party to complain to is the relevant host broadcaster to request longer TV coverage.

The bit I hate is the reluctance to use split screen technology especially in mountain stages to show both breakaway stage win fight and the GC battle behind and also showing interviews in the final 20km of the race instead of full focus on the action.

Live coverage started 12:00, they could easily choose to write that. Not knowing when the preview ends and we get live coverage is quite annoying.
