Yes, because Philipsen is just a sprinter...

Given what other options they have, I probably wouldn't bring him but don't pretend he wouldn't be selected by any other country and would in that case be one of the favourites to win.
He would be in many nations teams. And I'm definitely not pretending when I say he's not a favorite.

Still, nothing tops the Spanish team in Beijing:

Valverde
Sastre
Contador
Freire
Sanchez

Which captains should we bring? Yes!
They pretty much only needed Valverde to police Bettini and one rider to follow/instigate attack.

Beijing wasn't that hard of a course IIRC so I don't think Contador and Sastre were that overpowered there + Contador didn't have the Tour in his legs which makes it harder to compete for the win at the Olympics.

You bring your four best suited riders to the conditions - In effect each rider is both a domestique and a leader.

Three out of four riders have been selected for the Danish team:

Mads Pedersen
Mattias Skjelmose
Michael Mørkøv

With the track events in mind, it was a fairly obvious choice. I hope Bjerg will get the last spot, but Kragh and Asgreen are also strong candidates.

Why Skjelmose on this profile? Or does he ride the TT?

Looks like Denmark will - for now - have a bit of an illegal advantage:

Nevermind... only one Danish team now... four Mads Pedersens would have been epic.

Norway have chosen Tobias Foss and Søren Wærenskjold for both the ITT and Road race in Paris this summer. No huge surprise there since you have to race the Road Race to get a spot in the ITT.
Wærenskjold is a bad selection in my eyes, the RR course should be too hard for him and hes not gonna do better than maybe top 10 in the TT on a max day. With the small teams in the road race it will be a hard race to control and i think Abrahamsen could be strong enough to win a medal from the right long range move.

Wouldn't Tiller be an even better selection?
