Was it any more fluky than any other win from a small break?Houle hasn't done anything since his fluke win in the Tour
It wasn't a small break tbh, but he definitely was the smallest name at that point in that break. Was it any more fluky than any other win from a small break?
There are no Canadians that can contend in either men's RR or TT so I think other reasons for selection were considered (a career send-off for Woods, for example).
Houle said that there was a chance for him to be lined up to support Gee, but the COC decided to bring a second (or first) leader in Woods instead. Why would they choose Houle? Woods is a rider who has consistently shown he can win at WT level for years.

Houle was one of those guys benifitting from "Group 2 syndrome"and Houle was by far the best of them
Surprising, I thought Ineos was all about the Olympics. Why do they otherwise have someone like Viviani on their squad. Or does the Italian cycling federation pay his salary?Bernal will be replaced by Buitrago, as Ineos apparently has not given him permission to do the Olympics.

Woods has been ill this season and Houle has no strong results for 2 years. Not on this parcours and Wood has hardly shown much form.
Why can't Gee contend in the RR? It's an open race. Was it any more fluky than any other win from a small break?

A lady who I used to work with just qualified to go to Paris (3000 SC)! It gives me an extra kick of excitment for the Olympics.

As for the rest of the season, I have a week off, I've been riding a lot lately, I'm at 54 race days, so I feel like I need to take a break. Then I can get back to the preparation with renewed enthusiasm, a period that I love. After the break, I'm going back to Andorra for an altitude training camp and then the Olympics.
Thanks! He said after defending his national title:
