No. In 2020 it took the riders three weeks to go from Nice to Paris.
Well, the Marseille - Nice line isn't actually high-speed. In fact, the train ride is shorter than the one from Marseille to Paris by less than an hour even though the latter is four times the distance.
Also, Nice to Paris is 5.5 hours, not 7.
That's because Nice is at sea level and Paris is not. So obviously this direction takes longer since it's uphill.

The trainline quoted me 6hrs58mins. Leaving Paris at 12:38 to Marseille 16:00 Marseille 16:55 to Nice 19:36.

betting odds in the UK usually just follow where people place their bets, which I know is stating the obvious, but the pre-event betting market really shifts around and is distorted really by others just pushing their money in this case on riders that arent necessarily about form or expected results or any tips about it really at all.
TT is already next Saturday, I expect Tarling to blow everyone out of the water
Can't wait for the road race. It will be absolute carnage with smaller teams, no team radios and hilly route. I wouldn't be surprised to see the gold medal go to Ecuador once again. Narvaez is alone so he needs to go on the offensive and if he can get in the perfect breakaway with Remco and/or Pogi, he can win the sprint.
That's not a great excuse for somebody with great odds to win it in his current form. For many it's an important goal, a goal with only one opportunity in 4 years or basically a third of a typical career so a very rare opportunity but for Pog it apparantly has not much value. Strange.

I've never been as far behind in pre-Olympic analysis for the past +40 years as the all-sports geek I've been since I was a toddler.
I just found and added the routes to my Google Earth projects.
Exciting RC routes, which should accommodate a variety of puncheurs, sprinters, stage riders, classic guys.
But Men Elite ITT course - 32.4k?
Is this a joke?
If necessary, I can live with a single sub 50K route in a half-weekly stage race for the C-class junior riders.
But never on the biggest stages.
I don't buy the premise of the argument about getting away from dark times. As in not at all. The conditions are the same for the riders, tests the same.
This just have to be a prestigious length - 2 rounds and I've been satisfied.
However, I'm afraid UCI sold their souls to the big media groups, for whom anything over 40k goes against their cynical cost-benefit calculations.
As a silent protest of this, I do not intend to watch the ITT disciplines.
And a quiet hope that more people switch off here, so that the TV stations can animate UCI turning back on track, as well as the biggest protests and strikes during the Olympics will revolve around the ridiculous distances.
It's just too ridiculous. It honestly pisses me off.

For athletics, they have Jamaica winning a bronze medal in the 4 x 400m men's relay. Jamaica did not qualify for the 4 x 400 men's relay.
I appreciate it is difficult to make 300+ predictions across 40 different sports, so it's fair to say that this might be wildly off.

Converted my Eurosport Premium account to Max universe as Eurosport stopped their own services as of yesterday 22/07/24 - and in fact the Eurosport VOD universe is a tad better than the Premium universe - but still a universe from EurosportPlayer, unfortunately stopped a couple of years ago.
Well, I'm pretty sure I'll find a more exciting event than the slightly expanded 1000m track standing start here.
Maybe Eddy the Eel is ready for podium this time, if he doesn't drown on his way?
Huh? I thought if it was on Max, it would also be on D+, or are they trying to force us to switch to the higher priced "service"?
