Exactly this. Roglic was nowhere near the level of VingegaardRogla was dropped pretty hard on Galibier and San Luca and also couldn't keep up with them in the Massif Central. All before the two aliens even dropped their biggest watt bombs.

This is why a bunch of riders are quitting. Bardet for example. This is new to me, does people make music about Pogi? Nevermind the first 20sec of commentary but after that the song, wtf, is that you @Red Rick?

Yeah, sure.Jorgensen who could have gone with Pogacar, easily.
Matteo would "easily" follow Pogacar. Eheheh, this must be bias after Isola.Yeah, sure.
Roglic is miles behind Jonas right now. Last year, he was dropped in a climb tailormade for him (San Luca). Galibier the same, gravel stage, etc. I'm not underestimating Roglic at all, he still is the third best GT rider in the world (even if Remco seemed stronger in the Tour) but there is a massive gap between Roglic and Vingegaard/Pogacar.
Roglic clearly didn’t find his form last year until the Tour. Look at who dropped him on San Luca - Vingegaard, Pogacar, Remco, Carapaz, Mas, A Yates, Van Gils, Jorgensen…on a climb that suits Roglic. It’s hard for me to accept an argument that that was representative of normal state of affairs. Roglic performed much better relative to the competition and in terms of watts in the Vuelta than on San Luca or Galibier. Having said that, I don’t think he’s at the level of Pogacar or Vingegaard. I do think Roglic if he puts it all together can compete with 2021-2023 Vingegaard/Pogacar. Unsure about 2024-2025 Vingegaard. Definitely cannot compete with 2024-2025 Pogacar. No doubt he can beat Remco if he gets his prep right and stays on his bike.Rogla was dropped pretty hard on Galibier and San Luca and also couldn't keep up with them in the Massif Central. His numbers in the 2023-2024 Vuelta say otherwiseRoglic could compete in 2021, not in 2022 and 2023.
He bridged across to him twice.Matteo would "easily" follow Pogacar. Eheheh, this must be bias after Isola.
Numbers don't tell anything, specially because it is easier to make good numbers in the Vuelta. His numbers in the 2023-2024 Vuelta say otherwise
After being dropped once and it was Vingegaard who closed the gap in that situation. He bridged across to him twice.
He rode as a helper and didn't have Vingegaard's position, and had he not dropped back from the wheel of Pogi first, he probably wouldn't have been dropped again. After being dropped once and it was Vingegaard who closed the gap in that situation.
Had Pogacar a great team to help him there and he probably would have smoked everyone. UAE was great in the mountains but very disappointing in the gravel stage. On the other hand Visma was incredible. If Pogacar was in Visma that day and Vingegaard in UAE, I can tell you Vingegaard would lose at least one minute. He rode as a helper and didn't have Vingegaard's position, and had he not dropped back from the wheel of Pogi first, he probably wouldn't have been dropped again.
This line of discussion was about Jorgenson though. I wouldn't say "easily", but I do think he could have gone with Pogi to the finish, just those two.Had Pogacar a great team to help him there and he probably would have smoked everyone. Jorgenson the same. I don't believe he would stay with Pogacar if the race was harder and if Vingegaard wasn't there the first time to stop PogacarThis line of discussion was about Jorgenson though. I wouldn't say "easily", but I do think he could have gone with Pogi to the finish, just those two.
Doing the Giro a couple of times made TDS a harder fit for his schedule.Basque will be his toughest target to fit in. Romandie not so convenient. Suisse a no-brainer, surpised Roglic hasn't gotten that one done yet himself.
He was very strong that day so I think that is a credible take. This line of discussion was about Jorgenson though. I wouldn't say "easily", but I do think he could have gone with Pogi to the finish, just those two.
He was the only rider to come across to Pogacar on that gravel stage, solo. In fact, Matteo had to let up to go back and retrieve Jonas more than once; then ferry him back up to Pogacar. Tadej figured those two wouldn't start taking pulls and let the pack come back.Yeah, sure.
But Pogacar was going deep to catch Remco with Vingegaard on his wheel. Matteo was nowhere to be seen.He was the only rider to come across to Pogacar on that gravel stage, solo. No. He has a meeting in Slovenia on May 12th so I believe he will start on 14th or 15th.He starts the altitude concentration next week?
Maybe I'm wrong and it is on 12th October. However I still believe he will be in France next week (recons or doing some hard training before heading to Sierra Nevada).No. He has a meeting in Slovenia on May 12th so I believe he will start on 14th or 15th.
