I agree that the shorter climbs encourage more riders to think they have a chance and can ride high power 8-12 minutes uphill than can sustain it 20-25 minutes on a cat 1 or HC climb.Sometimes it's harder to control a stage like tomorrow's. Because it starts uphill and there's no flat section. And because there are more riders capable of handling the mid-mountain stage than the high-mountain stage, so tomorrow's break probabbly will be more competitive than a high-mountain stage.
The mountain train tapping out a gap controlling rhythm is much easier to do on the multi high mountains than an up and down all day parcours like tomorrow.
