*** the Vuelta. If you race this race with the Vuelta in mind against Vingegaard and Visma, you deserve to lose. Third tier GT and I can assure you Pog aint thinking about that right now. Chris Froome could do it because he faced absolute meme competition in 2016 and especially 2017

The plan was always to smash Hautacam, smash Peyragudes, ride defensively to Superbagneres and potentially counter Jonas if opportunity arose and deal the final and killing blow on Ventoux IMO and render the stages in the alps meaningless. He could not do that today, and he would have if he had the legs. Now Visma and Jonas smell blood and will unleash hell on Madeleine, I can assure you that much. If Pogacar gets dropped there, he most likely loses the Tour if Visma plays these stages like they usually do and UAE continues to be tactically inept and just rely on Pog strength.
Plans do change depending on the situation. Rider health being only one. And many teams with their own plans. But do you really know what their plans were to begin with or were those your plans.

The 4 min gap is obviously comforting but at the same time it can prove to be useless if what @Valv.Piti is suggesting will happen. Vingo drops Pog on Madeleine and it's game over. At the level that these 2 are riding right now it takes a single 'drop' to completely kill the other.
I honestly don’t follow this at all. You guys think that if Vingegaard gets a gap, Pogacar will collapse? Seems more likely that he’ll manage the gap and ride his own tempo like on Ventoux in 2021 than that he’ll collapse like in 2023. He’d have to either completely capitulate like that or suddenly finish with like Onley and Roglic for a couple stages to win this thing. Does not at all seem like a reasonable expectation.

The probability that Vingo overcomes the gap is small of course. Visma's idea is that if Pog loses ie 40 seconds on Madeleine (or Pre) then Vingo helped by breakaway teammates will be able to gain much more on the remaining part of the stage (including false flat).

It can totally backfire: Vingo can crack instead or Pogi can limit his losses. But its the only way for Visma right now. Alps should be exciting!

its not that we are not happy with pogacar, lol.its ptsd from 22/23 and fact,if pog doesnot perform at all time high level,it could get ugly.jonas is no joke and he is capable of 1 time insane performance like on combloux 23.what than.right now pog doesnot look capable of following that kind of performance.joans isnot winning with great watts, but if he does ''finestre''.well

Pogacar is hard to read for me, maybe because he is my favorite rider and I can't have an impartial opinion about him. If he follows Vingegaard on Madeleine, he will win the Tour and his fifth stage in the Tour.
Deep inside, I also hope he is thinking in the Vuelta and he is trying to not race until his red zone.
