Something similar has often happened to Roglic. In races like Emilia, he was very strong, but in Lombardia, not so much because of the mileage.
Vingegaard began to falter in the final kilometers of Lombardia in 2022.

But especially at the World Championships, he'll find himself without Visma's support. Vingegaard is a cyclist who has relied heavily on the team. Although, as I said, Denmark isn't as bad as Slovenia.

A World Championship is nothing like a stage race. Just ask Froome: six World Championship appearances, all DNFs due to poor results.
Maybe Slovenia will not be so bad as a team. Pogacar, Roglic, Novak, Govekar, Omrzel and maybe Mezgec is ok. It will be really hard for Novak but if Govekar and Mezgec can help him at the begining that should be ok. With Tratnik and Mohoric that would be strong team bit they are not going.

What is he saying

I actually don’t know how long he will ride - early retirement for sure possible. But even then - good for him. And leaving on top is anyway more legendary than whatever Froome and many more do.
What a waste of talent if you ask me. Probably the most talented rider cycling has ever seen and he is wasting his talent by retiring too soon.
Merckx is like a myth in cycling, there are many comparisons (pure mocking) but now that we finally have a rider with a realistic chance of getting close to Merckx's palmares, he is retiring befor turning 30... this is what I think he will do. Win gold in LA and never ride a bike professionally anymore.

I confidently give it close to zero chance he retires in 2028. It's not even a certainty that route will suit him perfectly. I think he'll have one more contract extension then maybe retire at around 35 years old.

Pog seems to be serious about ‘early’retirement, maybe it comes with the pressure and having accomplished so much already.

What is the worlds route please? I read it’s on a loop with a climb but with an extra loop for men’s with the cobbled climb?
So how many times do they go up that climb? Or have I read it wrong and they go up the cobbled ones every lap?

That has the profile of the whole route and the climbs.

Race will be in pieces with 130 km to go. All nations will try to antecipate Pogacar's move.
With the way they hit the circuit immediately without a long flattish buildup to it I expect fireworks from KM 0 with strong teams trying to place a credible rider in the early break of the day.

Any teams with 7+ riders like Denmark, France and Belgium should be proactive and put genuine options up the road early to exert maximal pressure on Slovenia as a team.

Yes but other minor favorites can't expect Slovenia to control the race alone. They aren't strong enough.
