Wrist injury and not optimal preparations was likely the main problem. Classics and the need to peak early were likely the minor problem. For the next season i feel that Pogi might have similar schedule. One problem i see is if he will only do the Tour. And if he wouldn't win it. That would be 3 years of GT drought. And that is not really all that optimal. The idea he will do two GTs next year. That is not something i feel will happen. If he plans to take the classics seriously. And the Worlds and the Olympics. So what to do with GTs. Likely something to consider in 2025 season. Unless Pogi wins Tour 2024. Then it's all good for a while. When it comes to GT racing.

Last classic I would think, LBL 21/4 then the Tour 29/6 to 21/7, then Olympics TT 27/7 & RR 3/8.
If he does not win the Tour next year, then will he do Giro/Vuelta instead in 2025?

If Pog builds a mini-peak for Lombardy (as he usually does) he'll be hard to beat there. The strongest (or one of the strongest) uphill and the fastest at the finish. Going for hat-trick.

That is a good question. I would like to see him try the Giro, at least, in his prime.

Watching this high-quality Vuelta makes me realize how deep the GC field can be if everyone shows up in good shape, so a Giro win is potentially no sure thing.

Cause the Giro has been an absolute shitshow lately

Isn't that mostly the riders' fault, though*? Pogacar in the Giro would automatically make it much better.

*Obviously the Lussari TT should not have been a stage 20, but you can't blame everything that didn't happen in 2021, 22 and 23 on that fact alone.

Just peak all the time. If I can, surely a professional athlete should be able to too.

But if you were a professional cyclist, you'd probably ride Paris-Nice and then forget all about it.

I wouldn't mind seeing Pogačar do the Giro. It can't be a worse Tour preparation than breaking a wrist either.

No. Better to ride the spring monuments.

I hold the spring monuments very highly but surely a rider that like Pogačar that already won RVV and LBL can take a year away from these an focus on the Giro on the first part of the season, especially as he should be able to ride MSR nonetheless.

Next year however the goals should be spring monuments - Tour - Olympics - Worlds- Lombardia. I would like to see him ride the Dauphiné or Suisse instead of Slovenia though.

My peak on the other hand is Mur de Bretagne to Granon with 6000 altitude meters climbed beforehand

It's not going to be walk in the park if the Vuelta crew come along, and I don't see why Roglic, Remco, Ayuso and co. won't do Lombardia.

Sure but to beat Pog in Lombardia you basically have to drop him (otherwise he'll beat you at the finish), which is almost impossible on those climbs when he's in form. Another scenario is a solo attack from a far - maybe Remco could try it.
