It's not going to be walk in the park if the Vuelta crew come along, and I don't see why Roglic, Remco, Ayuso and co. won't do Lombardia.

Sure but to beat Pog in Lombardia you basically have to drop him (otherwise he'll beat you at the finish), which is almost impossible on those climbs when he's in form. Another scenario is a solo attack from a far - maybe Remco could try it.

I think Vinge and Pog are 100% for TdF unless injuries change season goals. Pog needs to go there and try to win it again. Vinge needs to go there and defend.
Next year JV probably brings Roglič there as a wild card too. Remco will be there (baring another excuse why he's not ready). UAE probably brings not only Pogačar but also Almeida or Ayuso. Ineos doesn't matter what they bring.

Would love to see Almeida and Ayuso in the TdF with Pogačar.

Still, I think JV as a team, have demonstrated their capability to decisively put their opponents in the red on mountain stages and I'm not sure what anyone can do about that.

While I enjoy watching a lot of riders, no matter if they win or not, Pogačar is my favourite rider (I shall soon and in excruciating detail tell you all why in an upcoming post in this same thread: "I Just Think He (Pogačar) Is Neat" or "Not At All A Crazed Fangirl, However...") - and watching Col de la Loze happen once was already one time too much for me.

Realistically speaking, which I'm not a fan of generally but needs must, barring injuries or illness, I'm certain Pogačar will go to TdF 2024. I hope, but am not sure, that UAE will send the strongest team possible with him. I would like very much, and here is where my tenuous connection with reality breaks down, for him to win.

Pogacar won Flanders which was one of his major goals this year plus essentially every race he could win in the spring except for Liege.

I'm sure a 3rd TdF win is a priority over a Giro win even if the race starts in Slovenia and they offer a tonne of money.

In the run-up to the last Monument of the year he will also ride the Giro dell'Emilia on September 30 and the Tre Valli Varesine on October 3, he recently announced.

(Giro dell'Emilia was where Mas beat Pogacar last year, although Pogacar was probably still jet lagged from flying back from WC's in Australia. Also stage 2 of next year's Tour finishes on the same climb. Be interesting to see what form Pogacar has after his "weeks on the Chesterfield".)
