Being defending champion does not tell anything at all.
I guess he likes to live in a alternative universe where pogacar wasnt hurt that year, without prep or even rode in pain - then he lost one race wow haha.

Anyway thats boring and honestly just sad for that guy nvm, it goes without saying Pogacar is another level is common sense from the entire cycling field so it goes without saying, every pro to legend even say hes on the level of Merckx already that much is clear as day by now.

Pogacar will win the Tour if he shows up in the Giro's level. But I am little afraid he will crash because Wellens is always crashing and will guide Pogacar in flat stages.
Imagine roulers of Bjerg, Wellens and Pollit next year. Uae always lacked some sort of high calibre roulers type of guys now they have 3 of the top 10 in the world there. While their climber department of the team is unmatched by anyone.

Also with young riders like Morgada, Jan Christen, DEL TORO, Fischer coming up they really is gonne be the best team for many years to come.

UAE gonne be the benchmark in many years to come.

Edit: And yes indeed regarding Wellens this year both him and Politt have important roles and not easy to replace like they can with other climbers of tier 1 quality. Especially with Bjerg and Mcnulty given the greencard for OL too.

Bjerg would be perfect in the Tour squad, specially on stage 9. Pogacar can win the Tour there.

Yeh, today would only encourage Pogacar I would think. Rogla puts just 3 secs into Ciccone and 11 sec into Vlasov on a 11km/8% climb. Imagine what Pog would have done today based upon what we saw at the Giro. He did similar to what Roglic did today on Prati di Tivo breathing through his nose.

But tomorrow's harder stage will be a better indication how well Roglic is going. He may be targeting tomorrow's stage and was keeping something in reserve today? Like Pog on Prati di Tivo. We will see.

Today Pog would have put one minute to Rog. But If Vingegaard is ok, it is different, they would have get the line together,,and maybe Pog win at the sprint, In a stage like tomorrow agter today stage, Vingegaard is better, but if Pogacar dont makes mistakes, is better than the rest.

Cause of this reason I reject all the speculations about "the Roglic in alien mode thing" due to his watt/kg performance

I was looking for Tour's route and I only see him doing some damage on stage 4 and stage 9. The TT doesn't look perfect to him and can't see him winning time on Roglic.
EDIT: until we reach stage 14
UAE will use the first two days as well. Especially stage 2, these are hard days, and if youre watching Dauphine you're watching Remco getting dropped left and right and you know Vingegaard is coming back from a terrible crash. You want to cash in here, or at least make it very difficult for these cats in a a terrrain where Pog is great at.

I think Remco will be fine on opening weekend. He will be fresh and motivated.

I think it is after a few days into the race and once they hit real mountains the inevitable happens. He will shift to stage-hunting and start focusing on Olympics.

If he concedes and gets dropped on the first weekend I will be surprised.
