Some smaller and relatively newer countries value the Olympics medals no matter what the sport. Just value the brand. I don’t knock abi and their ilk for being strident

Theoretical question if Pogi would be prepared to trade an abundance of titles from a race won in pro cycling for an Olympic gold medal. In terms of regretting he didn't went for it. In my opinion yes, he will regret it. But here i agree that this is my take on it. Future Pogi is yet to come and if not sooner lets see in four years time, on what his attitude towards Olympics will be.

Guys you are just repeating some passe nonsense. Cycling, and some other pro sports, just don't have much initiative to put Olympics on the pedestal. As that would mean, by them, they get reduced in value. Read get less money. That actually being nonsense by itself, as Olympics and pro sport aren't all that comparable in its core and popularity of one in my opinion doesn't reduce the amount of money in the other side of it.

So all of you repeating, on how much value some events in pro cycling holds and on how little an Olympic gold medal is worth. You have been told a lie and you are repeating it, that is all there is to it.

P.S. Janja is GOAT too and she is doing it. You just don't pass Olympics. If you do, as an elite athlete, then your pro sport franchise is likely making you much richer but also likely a tiny bit dumber.

No but I said it and its true OL is for many sports not what's transcend the sport at all even far from it.
OL fotball teams usually send their B players along with some JR. It doesn't transcend ***. Its second tier. And saying trading in PR for Ol gold is saying Messi wanted to trade in his WC gold for OL or even spain for OL it just doesn't stack up.

I get what ur saying and if he was a overwhelming fav to win it I don't think he woulda skipped it but I hardly think he would be the fav even after the double in fact not on that course imo.

I see. Pogi wouldn't go in any case. Olympic gold just isn't worth pursuing. Urška would likely pass it too and so would Rogla, being healthy. The four men and two women we actually selected, they really don't want to go either. It's the Olympics.

Vuelta would indeed be an interesting story. Lets say Pogi does it and wins it. After all the talk about goats and making history would be over, this would in reality likely have several negative consequences. For one it would likely severely devaluate GT racing as a whole. But then again times are changing and who knows on how pro cycling of tomorrow will look like. And as for devaluating, maybe only from the sports side of thing, not necessarily from the money side of things. As true, the mob might like it so much.
