Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

Page 747 - Get up to date with the latest news, scores & standings from the Cycling News Community.
Pogačar knows the value of a team. He has the best team in peloton, period. With them, he can win anything any year. By being greedy and racing everything and not letting good riders in his team going for their own results and glory would bring problems, bad mood and probably some leaving. He's won A LOT already and he can still win A LOT more. But not without a very good team. Besides, he wants WC win A LOT more, then Vuelta this year.
The way he won the Giro-Tour double. Giro by 10 min then crushing the Tour in a fashion like that which we havent seen in ages and Eurosport commentator said forever. 6 stage wins, total domination on every mountain, best numbers ever seen in history.

Saw people already proclaiming its in the top 5 best season off all times already as it is.

Ofcourse.

Only 2 memes ever apply. I speak and get big trouble. And they hate Jesus Red Rick for speaking the truth
Which would you prefer, to watch Pogi bear Vingegaard in a stage by 1 minute or to watch Davide Bais beat Karel Vacek and Simone Pettilli when the peloton finish 3 minutes behind with 0 attacks, like what happened in the 2023 Giro?

A similar scenario to Glasgow would be possible. Fighting for medals but missing something at the end (MVP peaking on this route would be hard to beat). He was absolutely gassed after the WC last year so they probably don't want him to overexert again after the double.
He was gassed at the previous WC in Australia from what little I could see. No rebound and alot of travel to get to that race.

if you had to pick one thing to be true:

Door #1 - pogi says *** it and races the vuelta comprising his recovery until later next spring. So he gets the treble, wins one of either worlds or Lombardia (or neither); yet doesn’t do a bonkers spring campaign. Needs the recovery time into next years schedule. does LBL (good enough to win), Dauphine, and is strong again for tour/vuelta combo plus worlds/Lombardia.

Door #2 pogi stays the course. Wins worlds, Lombardia, and has a lights out spring classics campaign (no giro), tour/Vuelta, worlds, Lombardia

Door 1. We can witness history. I would choose this door even if he wasn't able to be at his best next year. He is wasting a big opportunity to be the GOAT. No one has ever done this feat.

Pogi himself is seeking out distinctions in the history of the sport that draw him out to be the greatest. He is still at the possibly the most talented with potential phase. And the treble is just the type of result that would elevate him. I’m not saying it will never be as possible as the moment right now to achieve the unthinkable, but it sure does look very realistic given the manner he has dispatched with his challengers this year.
