Attia the biggest snake-oil salesman in the game

I can scarcely believe my eyes.
Pogacar is constantly delivering performances above 6.1 w/kg in GT's (this year)

Am I reading this wrong? Didn't Pog do well above 2000 VAM and 7W/kg during his best efforts at TDF?
You aren't reading wrong, though it depends on the effort, 'VAM' alone doesn't really mean much without context of climb type/duration. Pogacar and even some of Vingegaard's efforts were close and sometimes exceeding Pantani/Riis/Mig on the climbs, rather than the '10%-15% less' than he thinks here.

Pogacar's fresh FTP over an hour is at least close to 7 w/kg, form/weight dependant ofc.

Tl;dr Attia is a charlatan, no more qualifications in exercise physiology/related than anyone on here (zero), his speciality is the classic 'longevity medicine'. I'd also expect most people on here to have a better grasp of the basic concepts. Having said that I think it's good Pogacar is doing this sort of interview, though just wish he would've chosen someone different.

What perfomances Pantani did at or above 2000 VAM in 1998?
Pantani's best >2000 VAM show in a race was probably about 20 minutes (Flumserberg 1995 I think), conditions not ideal as it was throwing it down and he was mostly alone, though some might know of better examples.

Pogacar/Vingegaard could definitely go a bit longer in the right scenario I think, Roglic/Remco weren't a million miles off on Lo Port but drafting/conditions were basically ideal so the physiological effort wasn't as high as it was with Pantani.

My bad, sorry. My question was, in what climbs of the Tour 1998, Pantani did a VAM of 2000?

As far as I know none of them, off the top of my head that Tour was mostly longer climbs (inc PDB), I don't even think he was in his best climbing form (better in the Giro and mid-90s) which is partly why Attia's comment makes no sense, most charitable explanation is that he was getting confused with other races, or more likely just making crap up and hoping nobody questions it.

Cyclenews knows whats up.

Also everyone just seems to focus and talk about Pogi naturally but still.

Pogacar has an odd of 1,53 to win on Sunday. Heavy favourite!

He has a FTP of 7w/kg....He can just have yates pull all inn for 5min and everyone is in the red and he literally just strolling around still without beeing in the red zone even...WC properly not remotely close enough to beeing hard enough for that though.

(Only recently saw this.)
Could it be that what he's doing is spending time with family and friends? Just generally having a life outside cycling.
I suppose - harsh as it might sound - that someone who is 110% focused on cycling would not miss out on defending a Monument title because his MIL was dying. However, Pogacar did just that, because he's not just a cyclists, he's also a nice young man, who just wanted to be there for the woman he loves.
My point is, you can be 110% focused on cycling, or in your job as a example, and then when you have some time free, you do what you want like being with other friends or family.
