My bad, sorry. My question was, in what climbs of the Tour 1998, Pantani did a VAM of 2000?
Correct. This guy Attia looked like a complete fool when he wrote that comment.
Example: Pantani 's record on Alpe d' Huez has a VAM of 1820. Attia giving numbers of 2000 means he is completely clueless.

He has a FTP of 7w/kg....He can just have yates pull all inn for 5min and everyone is in the red and he literally just strolling around still without beeing in the red zone even...WC properly not remotely close enough to beeing hard enough for that though.
That and the niggling problem that Yates would be obviously abandoning his country's interests for his Pro team's....which pay all of his bills. So he might be seen in the vicinity of Pogacar filling gaps but not likely sitting directly in front of him. But stranger things have happened at WC RR.

Your family and friends also deserve some energy that's solely for them, not just whatever you have left when you've done your job.
As I said earlier; this may be one of the more mature aspects of Pogacar's overall abilities. He can enjoy real life and compartmentize the job when it needs to clear his head. Not every athlete works that way but it's a good way to have a long career.

You don't have to like Peter Attia, I barely know him tbh, but still really enjoyed the interview. Because it shows how much thought gets into cycling (like the grams of carbohydrate needed in what interval and at what mix - fructose vs. glucose), the absolute insane level those guys are on ("I like riding in Zone 2 and go 320W-340W for 5-6 hours") and actually Pogacar's weight (66kg at his first TdF win, 65kg this year, max. 69kg in off-season - all in all actually a bit heavier than the forum was thinking). Those are nice first hand insights.

Also for that that VO2max was such a highly regarded metric for quite a while, I know already heard a few elite athletes that they actually don't care to test it. Pogacar simply said "Haven't tested for years, guess its high".

Funny interview with his teammate Wellens today:
1. will you chase after Pog on the worlds? Answer: I might, but that would be bad tactics because I will never catch him. Only Remco can.
2. Do you train together in Monaco: Answer: seldom, because it's just to hard: only on flats I can (barely) keep up, but way to fast once the road goes up.

Novak says the same. He doesn't like to train with Pogacar because he destroys him.
