Who cares about personal logos? Corporate rubbish that his management probably pushed onto him.

More important are his strides in the White Jersey all time ranking. Quoted from end of last years Tour:

Well, to update this from the beginning of this Tour, he's making big strides (although this year we mostly saw him in yellow). Overtook Quintana and Schleck and still has two eligible years to move ahead of Ullrich.

Quintana: 22 days (10 in 2013, 11 in 2015)
Schleck: 27 days (6+7+14 in 2008-2010)
Pogacar: 33 days (12+21 in 2020/21)
Ullrich: 52 days (14+21+17 in 1996-1998)

So he takes it on day one and is now on 34.

Current Jan Ullrich mood:

Pog's cornering was disastrous and he still only finished 7 seconds down. Crazy.

I pretty much knew what time it was when I saw his cocky attitude before the start.
It wasn't disastrous at all, it was pretty controlled. He mistimed one curve in the first part but the rest was good. And he definitely took the bridge chicane better than the majority of contenders, I think he took easily 3 seconds on Roglic there.

Worded that wrong. Controlled but (seemingly) slow - very risk averse is what I meant. I have to rewatch it, but it seemed like Pog was the most risk averse of them all.

Which makes sense if you're convinced that you're the best GT specialist by far. He certainly gives off that vibe. His confidence is off the charts. Not worried at all about dropping time to other GT specialists.

He could not risk crashing, which explains the Curves. On dry conditions he may well have won.

I think so, too. It would have been close.

Well. I won't tell what the logo reminds me of. In my opinion he should fire the designer and get a new one. This one is bad. But if Pogi is happy with it then OK. The world won't stop because of a logo.
Vaginal Gains.

Here in the USA the Dallas Stars NHL(National Hockey League) designed a third jersey (worn on special days limited many are now on third or fourth 3rd jersey :) Anyway it was supposed to be a interpretation of a bull's skull but the abstract art soon got the moniker: Mooterus LOL :D:p;):)

Those days.

I forgot to add it wasn't long after the that Moniker was made popular that the Jersey was eliminated except for team stores for those who actually liked them. :)

Just read in la Gazzetta dello Sport that Tadej prepared the Tour at altitude with a base at Livigno, where he frequently rode the Stelvio and Gavia. Apparently his Strava registered record ascents on these climbs, which he wanted to render public, despite not everyone (on the team?) agreeing. Anybody know about these record times?

I've shared my view on this before. First of all, he didn't dominate juniors or U23. He won L'Avenir with a normal/modest gap over Arensman, who was over a year younger, without even winning a stage. Big talent but nothing really out of the ordinary, especially after Bernal.

Actually he was regarded as pretty much a sure thing when he passed pro.

He won Avenir in convincing fashion, and was the second youngest rider in the top 10. Arensman was the outlier, not the standard. Pogacar won it at 19, a bit under a month before turning 20. Which possibly makes him the third youngest winner of it, french wikipedia only has the 2 youngest, Baronchelli and Gaudu. Gaudu who was born 19 days later in the year than Pogacar. Bernal for comparison is born 8 months earlier.

As for his normal/modest gap, it's the biggest since Quintana in 2010.

So that already was very much out of the ordinary, Add that his edition was regarded as rather strong at the time (now looks crazy strong, but that's in retrospect, at the time with Sosa dominating Burgos, Vlasov, Almeida from the Baby Giro, McNulty I think rated rather highly too, just looked strong)

So his Tour de l'Avenir win, combined with his 2 excellent Tours of Slovenia, 5th and 4th (5th at 18 years and 9 months, others are still juniors at this age) made him special when he passed pro.

He didn't dominate the Juniors? Nobody does except Evenepoel really. And especially GT riders/climbers really don't, Junior results have never been a good indicator for success in GTs. And let's not forget that Pogacar was born in September, not in January.

He was a sure thing. Like Bernal. But of course not every sure thing pans out, see Sosa and Sivakov. Too many... yes, strange times (add Ayuso too now), but before that the last sure thing was Quintana, before that we go back to Ullrich, Franck Vandenbroucke and Santi Blanco. Cycling simply has gone crazy the last few years. Of course nobody in his right mind thought he would finish third in his first GT then win the Tour twice, while winning 2 monuments and being second in Flanders, plus one of the strongest in MIlano-Sanremo. In 3.5 years as a pro. But he wasn't just one of many, he was regarded as special from the start.
