Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

I thought it was common knowledge that the bikes in the 90s weren't heavy monsters, but apparently not. Here you can see three different sources:

https://www.bikeradar.com/features/retro-pro-bike-marco-pantanis-1998-bianchi-mega-pro-xl

Approximately 6,96 kg with pedals and bottle cage.

= Politt speaking BS.
Lol. Those articles means little.

Where are the sources for these articles. You need to proof-read.

No one is expecting Evenepoel to just win the WC. [[deleted content]]
"I don't see what could prevent him from achieving the double at the World Championships in Zurich on a course that suits him," concludes the 79-year-old Belgian (Merckx). "If he's in the same shape as today, even Tadej Pogacar will have difficulty beating him."

Like I said, no one is saying he’ll just win it.

Funny discussion. Meanwhile Evenepoel on Pogacar:tearsofjoy:

''Remco Evenepoel on Tadej Pogacar: He's not the same as us.''

Talking about climbing and TDF. I don’t think Evenepoel has the same opinion about Pogacar when it comes to different type of races. It’s not like he would say this about time trials for example.

If you watch the podcast, he doesn't really have a clue how heavy bikes were back in the day, he just made a guess.
If you don't know if there is a difference it's really stupid to just guess AND use that as an argument as why they are faster now. Things like "the bikes now are better because we have 25 years more of technical evolution" would make sense. Specifically pointing out one factor (weight) when he apparently doesn't know what he's talking about makes him look a bit stupid.

lol its hilarius listening denial.pog is better than remco in every type of terain, outside of pure flat.even in time trail, pog is better in every type other than flat.he just toyed with him in tour on hily course, lmao.if time trails would be on hilly, mountains or descent pog beats him nine times out of ten.even on flat pog was way better than remco this year.pog attacked more times in one stage on tour, than remco did in whole tour.those 2 attacks were weak [[content deleted]] and pog would close that olympics attack on one leg.lets be serius.even vdp attack was too much for remco and pog would laugh at that attack.

I really doubt he thinks that much about it before a podcast like this. I don't think it ever occurred to him that these remarks will be scrutinized on a cycling forum.

On last TT, he mostly toyed with Remco because he knew the course by heart since he lives right next to it.

If debating or discussion is pointless in a discussion thread, then surely it's also pointless to point out how pointless it is. Carrying along despite that and still pointing out the pointlessness of debate is a performative contradiction.

I suppose it's no different to yelling in ALL CAPS THAT THE REST OF YOU SCHMUCKS BETTER STFU!

So how is Teddy's vacation? Refreshed for a last minute Vuelta entry? Imagine the faces of Almeida, Landa and co then!

They signed Vermeersch and Narvaez for classics but zero riders to help Pogacar in the mountains. Ayuso and Almeida won't be in the Tour next year so he will not have a great support in the mountains compared to Visma.
Pogacar
Yates
Politt
Wellens
Soler
Bjerg
Sivakov
They need a stellar mountain domestique to make this team competitive with Visma.

Yes,they need to make achoice regarding ayuso and who will be in his place.ideally another strong climber.its funny, cause in ayuso place/role you would need guy like kuss.elite climber, who is willing to sacrifice himself.

Del Toro?

I think it’s a big pity that Pog wasn’t in Paris. I hope the Slovenian federation realizes they made a big mistake not selecting his gf to the Olympic squad, given she was ranked #1 in the country. I have no doubt that Tadej would have battled for gold in both races.

I hope that in 4 years time he’s in LA and winning gold. By that year, we could be talking about him as the GOAT.

Do you think Del Toro is prepared to do the Tour? I think Giro is a better option for him but we have to see what he can do in the Vuelta this year. Visma will have a lot of power even without WVA. Yeah, I believe WVA will do the Giro next year but Matteo, Kuss and Yates in the mountains is just incredible.
Well In recent years we have seen Vingegaard, Bernal and Pogacar all debut in the Vuelta and then go on to finish 1st or 2nd in the Tour the season after.

Del Toro has a huge amount of talent and I would not entirely rule out him winning La Vuelta this year.

Almeida would ride for pogi again and a top 5 finish or better
