Are they stupid? The routechange from 2017 was the best decision for this race.
Since then its my favorite ardennen classic.
Before that change this race was superboring and now it will be again. I cant belive it.
They want Cauberg to be the crucial climb again. Pogacar will attack earlier but in 10 years if they maintain this route, it will be a massive disappointment

Well I am assuming from the social media I have seen of them reconning the race. Wellens and Covi also on the old bike while training with Pog (who is still on the new bike) in san remo.

It is 242g heavier.
no the full bike is approximately 700g heavier than the fully tricked out v4rs pog uses at the tour, is should be 7.5-7.6 kg (there are different articles about it on italian media, plus on a yt video from colnago almeida tells that his aero bike weighs 7.6kg). This compares with 6.8-6.9kg (very close to uci limit) for the v4rs. Apart from the weigth the real problem of the new bike is that it forces a really strange position, look at pogi on jabel hafeet and compare it to its pedal stroke and fluidity he had in mountain finishes in catalunya at the beginning of 2024. With the new bike there is something wrong, his pedal stroke is more power focused and he has a lower cadence plus a strange (and it seems also uncomfortable) position. I believe that he will use this bike in sanremo but I really hope that's gonna be the only important race in which he uses it

I fail to see where he looks unconfortable.

So Teddy uses a bike 0.7 kg heavier than last year's? This would be a huge difference, I don't believe they will use it during the Tour as every gram counts there. Or the difference is actually much smaller.

Do people not get the concept of Aero bikes? Its more and more used across the peloton, its even a trend. Pogacar definitely will ride this bike in the Tour 100%, its not even a question, not in the high mountains tho.

Also with all the modified personal thnings Pogacar has on his bike compared to his teammates its not 0.7kg its less and secondly while this bike was made for UAE pro riders its made for Pogacar above anyone else in mind, they have openly said that.

Cervelo S5 is aero bike and considered among the best watt saving bikes there is, Jonas rode it 80-90% of the Tour last year and if anything this bike was made to make up the deificit almost all brands had on the v4rs.

You all trippin and thinking backwords, this bike aint made for Plateau de Beille stages in mind..

Most of the manufacturer's designs did a bunch of things for compliance, more seat post, add comfort, drop seat stays slightly more comfortable. But the Colnago design likely has some of the larger tubes flexing a little bit to get some comfort. Pogacar's position for seat to spindle doesn't look much different, stem and stack have him pretty much slammed forward on both bikes.. Many riders are pushed forward and stem of 120 plus , don't think that riders doing recon with 50s and bigger tires are looking beat up because of chunky, big aero tube sizes and massive fork -steering tube intersection. Funny that a mouse of a man like Tom Pidcock looks to be riding 50s, not huge tires, bike looks absolutely beefy and Scott uses a seatpost that looks to have no flex..if that bike is not vibrating his soul and dental work out silly looking Colnago design is probably going to absorb some of the rough road.. Plus the carbon lay up on the bike may give it some smoothness. There is a velodrome video..https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9N50LBZVgMs&pp=ygURUG9nYWNhciB2ZWxvZHJvbWU%3D

Interesting. There is a moment João ask how many watts did he save and someone said 19.
In races w punchy climbs, cobbles, wet, mud, cold, windy if your bike chatters all over the road, can't keep a contact patch, you can't count wattage savings. During recent recon rides, anyone riding a wattage saving, super stiff bike, high profile wheels , smaller diameter tires will rethink it if conditions are crap!! Aero bikes certainly have there place but in nasty conditions soft is better than stiff.. 19 watts isn't important if you are slipping, vibrating and body is beat up from absorbing all energy from the road.. Like I said, the Pidcock first bike choice looks terrible to me!! I will be curious to see if new Ridley remake is workable..
