That felt circumstantial to me as the group was so much smaller heading to the Arenberg that it didn’t get truly tested.I'm not sure. It wasn't bad last year, if anything it was a major success.
Because it is. History shows that.Really don't understand why doing Roubaix is considered specially dangerous. It's not like there has been that many bad crashes involving big favourites there in recent years. Also it is a completely flat race meaning no descents contrary to every other major classic. Fight for position before cobbled sectors is fierce, but that's the same for every Flemish classic Pog is planning to do. How is that more dangerous than for example the high speed plunges down the Cipressa and Poggio and the crazy fight for positions preceding the ascents of those climbs?

They hit the cobbles with very high speed again and again. You often see bikes fall apart with riders flying all over the place. There is a reason why the are making a new run in to arenberg.Really don't understand why doing Roubaix is considered specially dangerous. It is everything. Speed, narrow sectors, hard and tough cobbles, everyone wants to be in the front. Recipe for disaster. They hit the cobbles with very high speed again and again. Is it if you are technically gifted though? How many times have you seen really great riders crash out big time at Roubaix? Cancellara, Boonen, MVDP, WVA, etc.Because it is. History shows that.
Is he more or less technically gifted than, say, Dylan van Baarle, particularly with respect to cobbles? Is it if you are technically gifted though? How many times have you seen really great riders crash out big time at Roubaix? Cancellara, Boonen, MVDP, WVA, etc.
I don't find Van Baarle technically that strong. He crashes quite often. Is he more or less technically gifted than, say, Dylan van Baarle, particularly with respect to cobbles?
But winning 5 TdF is a very difficult task, he can take longer time to achieve this goal. Will he wait so much time to start PR? I don't think so.I like Mou but I disagree when he says so what if Pogi fall in Roubaix and cant participate in the TdF, it doesnt matter, just have someone else lead Pogi can just focus on the classics this is what he likes anyway...
The TdF is still the number 1 cycling event. There is a reason Lemond or Indurain are bigger names than Boonen or Cancelara...
At least not yet, he should aim at least for 5 TdF.
The narrative is that he saw it through in uae tour because of sponsors. Rumors that he’s uncomfortable on it appear to be true at SBCurious about that Y1RS statement. Pog rode it to the win in the UAE tour, right? I wasn't a fan of the design, but the general consensus here seemed to be that I'm rushing to judgment and should give it more time.

Win 4 monuments is also historical. I just hope he races PR. Race will be a lot more thrilling.I think no body should stress about pog doing roubaix or not It all depends on san remo. If he wins san remo no one is stopping him from doing roubaix its once in a life time opportunity to win all 5 monuments in same season for heavens sake😟 but if he doesnt win msr i wouldn't like roubaix for this year. Idk why its been an issue that the gianetis are talking about it this early. just wait for san remos outcome
Pogacar himself told he likes to be a classicomano who does well in GTs. It would be such a pity to see him only in the Tour.Going forward I think he should ride all 5 monuments annually + SB. Save those one week stage races missing from his results for when he's old man pogi.
IMO he should win at least 5 (two more) TdFs to equal the official record before he risks injury at PR. First he has to beat Vingegaard in the TdF this year in a fair fight with no excuses.Yup thats true and I understand, but I think at least one more TdF. Hopefully this year. And then the next few years he can start to focus on PR and risk more for the TdF.
He will always have this handicap of being 5-10kg lighter than most PR riders but his aerobic system is also bigger than his rivals and PR is an endurance race.IMO he should win at least 5 (two more) TdFs to equal the official record before he risks injury at PR. First he has to beat Vingegaard in the TdF this year in a fair fight with no excuses.
And I think we need to keep in mind he is much less suited to PR than SB. At PR he will be shoulder to shoulder with riders 20kg heavier than he is. And those cobbles are a bigger deal for lighter riders. If its wet would be unbearable watching.
Current focus must be defeating a fresh and uninjured Vingegaard this year in the rematch of the century. So no PR in 2025. I read today that UAE seems to agree.
Johan Museeuw and Degenkolb might have something to say about this topic. Is it if you are technically gifted though? How many times have you seen really great riders crash out big time at Roubaix? Cancellara, Boonen, MVDP, WVA, etc.
