I'm yet to see who is gonna follow him after 5 hours of a full gas race. Maybe 3 or riders.
3 riders are enough. Even 1 of them is likely to beat him at the line. He needs something extra.

FW was the only of the Belgians that could give MVDP some sort of challenge at the Gravel WC in Leuven last year. Then again when MVDP put the hammer down he couldn't respond but he was strong and came in as a solid number two. Alpecin cannot let him go away.He got second in PR in 2021. If he has very good legs then maybe he can be helpful in creating some tactical advantage (i.e. breakaway forcing Pog's rivals to work more than him).
Yeah, I agree. The group at Glasgow '23 is probably a good starting point for who could follow.
Trying to play the psyops game. MVPs camp is claiming the dude is still sick.„I think it's obvious that Van der Poel has to be number one, not just because he won last year, but because he's a much better classics rider than Tadej Pogacar, there's no doubt about that”. WTF is he talking about ?
Their confidence went out the window after the last Poggenheimer in KwaremontTrying to play the psyops game. MVPs camp is claiming the dude is still sick.
Yeah baby! Give me a 90 km solo!!After two solid wins at RVV over Van der Poel even the most devout fans must admit that Pog is the greatest rider of this generation. He might not be able to challenge the best at CX or MTB but in every road race he is the main protagonist, from GTs to one day classics of every kind (maybe with the exceptions of races such as Ghent Wevelgem). On the road MVDP is less versatile.
There is a significant chance (risk) that Pog wins P-R. It looks to be dry, hence not overly technical, and with the help of his team making it a superhard race Pog could probably go alone from Orchies and possibly even earlier (Arenberg?). It would not surprise should that happen but I wouldn't like it to play out that way. A sprint between MVDP, Pedersen, Ganna and Pog would be ideal in that order.
ps. amazing that in the 80s average speed was around 38 km/h. Now they're over 45 km/h
Exactly. I love MvdP, but it's not hard to admit someone is just better, especially when it's this obvious and always was obvious entering this year nevertheless. There's no shame in that for MvdP, who is one of the best ever in RVV.After two solid wins at RVV over Van der Poel even the most devout fans must admit that Pog is the greatest rider of this generation. Well, it will rain overnight to Sunday and there may be local showers during the race as well, so it won‘t be quite as dry.Dry and windy weather! Perfect conditions for a lovely PR!
I will be shocked if MVP is able to drop Pogacar (without crashes)In Roubaix, however, MvdP is the main man to beat on paper, mainly because we don't know to what extent the unfavorable terrain will impact Pogi.
But I still wouldn't be surprised like I think some might be to see him ride away from most. I won't—the data the absolute maximum wattage he showed on Cipressa at the front, breaking the wind, is absolutely ludicrous.

I'm all about modesty. 260k solo! Shot out like a cannon at the startYeah baby! Give me a 90 km solo!!

Yes GW was racing for MVDP instead for Belgium but I don’t think it really mattered. It was an odd showing and I guess Stuyven didn’t appreciate it yet FW and MVDP were stronger than the rest... of the Belgians who weren't obviously racing for MVDP in that race.
Now more serious. He will give us a show on Aremberg! If he doesn't crash until there.I'm all about modesty. 260k solo! Shot out like a cannon at the start

Just to be relevant. We don't have the current TdF champion in PR since Lemond so screw the result, just give us something to talk about. At least to have a nice photo of attacking in Arenberg forest while wearing the rainbow jersey! Screw the final result.
Or he‘s out of position and can‘t attack because of thatNow more serious. He will give us a show on Aremberg! If he doesn't crash until there.
