It made me laugh because I don't want to think about what would be said in this thread if Pogacar said thatRemco always was like this. He is always outspoken and sometimes a little bit arrogant but we also need guys like him, "bad guys" are important in cycling too, to give audience and content. I hope he never changes even if sometimes we will see arrogant and childish behaviours from him.
yesSo, let me get this straight. Pogacar lost today because he was tired from PR.
noIs there a chance he lost because two other riders or at least one(evenepoel), was at the same level today?
he did say that. Yes.Evenepoel can also say that he crashed today and that he came back from a serious crash.
He is tired from P-R podium and should have raced smarter todayPogacar is not tired of anything. Yes, PR is a demanding and tiring race, but he didn't yet raced that much this year, and there was 1 week to recover.
NoUAE tour, MSR, and strade bianche were easy days.
NoThe only 2 demanding days this year, were PR and Flandres.
Don't forget to keep your cool ehehehyes
no
he did say that. Yes.

No

It's a bit ironic that Vingegaard, having recovered, can excuse himself from no racing until the Dauphine, yet we can't say that PR week is horrible, when the VDP himself said so a year ago after Amstel.Kinda reminds me of you tbh. If Vingegaard loses, there's always an excuse.
If Pogacar wins it's because of the competition, crashes, xyz reasons.
It is normal that he is a bit tired/his shape isn't so great but Evenepoel and Skjelmose were on a very high level as well.
.

Most likeable? Meh, not to me, but that's subjective ofcourse.Great post Jack.
It really seems his biggest weakness is excessive confidence. Already lost a Tour because of that (Granon) and many more races but this is also why he is so loved and why he is the most likeable and popular nowadays. This classics season have been great and he is the main protagonist for sure!
In general, he is. There is no question about who is the face of cycling right now. Of course he is not the most likeable to everyone (and that's okay. How boring would be if everyone liked yellow and no one liked blue?) but in general he is.Most likeable? Meh, not to me, but that's subjective ofcourse.
I'm gonna defend him a bit nonetheless: excessive confidence? Maybe a bit, but that's also what makes him willing to seek out his limits (and inevitably crossing them in the process): racing all spring classics and then Ardennes to boot. He's wearing himself out but at least he gives it a go just to see where his limit lies. I would just advise him not to do it again going forward. I applaud him for having tried it though.
Fan victim mentality at it again. "If my rider did/said that then people would *** so much more."It made me laugh because I don't want to think about what would be said in this thread if Pogacar said that
I found it funny reading it after some comments about arrogance.
Disagree in this.Great post Jack.

That comment gets thrown around so often.
I think you'd find Pogacar would get at least as much slack as others on here.
He said the legs were great, so he is not tired of anything.Pogi says the legs are great and can't wait for La Flèche Wallonne.

That's where I comes in.Pog is the best because he doesn't make excuses for his failures.
Funny that when you ride and race bicycles enough you always realize that no crash is alike, crashes that see someone flying through the air, rag doll and landing only to get up with nothing or some road rash and a bad attitude!!Mvp was sitting on his sofa today thinking “what an idiot”
Seeing Remco's interview he didn't say it. Unless he said to someone else it's a red herring massage of what he actually said. Go see that rather than refresh the trollchum.'Without that fall, I would have won the race'
I see this in this link.
The arrogant Pogacar didn´t say it![]()
Wellens crashed (maybe even the same crash as Narvaez?) before TV started. That's as far as I could make up from the commentators and some online sources. He already crashed quite hard in RVV and was riding with a fractured rib.Wellenes has been exhausted for two weeks. They've had him do every Classics.
Narvaez has suffered several crashes, these lapses can be caused by fatigue.
Narvaez and Wellens were kissing just asphalt in this classics season. So much bad luckWellens crashed (maybe even the same crash as Narvaez?) before TV started. It has been like 3 days since I visited this topic and I felt like I had to read a whole chapter of a book!
In short, I think Pog lost mainly because of wrong choices.
It took him making the wrong choice of following Alaphilippe. It also took a chase group that wasn't cooked by Pogs attack, simply because nobody followed Alaphilippe / Pog when they went clear (for reasons I don't understand: weren't they able or were they just very cold-blooded, or were they (most likely) seeing Pog go and thinking: don't follow this, it's suicide).
So for once, there was the ideal scenario (for the chasers) of Pog going early, on a parcours with a lot of headwind, and behind a strong group with some domestiques, not enough UAE riders to jump on attacks, and ofcourse a very dedicated chase by a strong duo. Pog still had a very fine sprint, but that sprint was lost because of wrong timing (started too early by Remco, so both Remco and Pog had to go early with some headwind).
So all the stars aligned for Skjelmose to win the race (he didn't steal it: he probably gave his very best chasing with Remco which most would consider suicide, so he was brave and willing to go all in).
Just saying that everything was close to perfect in terms of wearing Pog down, chasing Pog, and that sprint.
And still, Pog nearly won. He was the fastest on most of the key climbs. So I would say he's still the outright favourite in LBL. Remco is in fine form, but unless his early crash took much out of him and he that sharp attack uphill like on Redoute when he won Liege, I can't see Remco matching a serious (and this time better-timed) Pog attack. If Pog attacks on Roche-au-Faucons it's a done deal imho.
Crazy dude. It will be raining so his chances are good! However, I think he is gambling with his shape.Pogi says the legs are great and can't wait for La Flèche Wallonne.
