I don't get it. Just 18 days? Vingegaard is amost a full month at altitude and Pogacar doesn't even stay 3 weeks.
Sola declared a year ago that Pogi needs relatively short periods on altitude to reach his peak values.

Maybe if he stays longer only lose freshness looking to July....and I bet his reckons are truly top trainings.

Last year before Giro only stayed 11 days in Sierra Nevada.

I don't believe, I'm more inclined to think his recons are hard trainings like you said.

IMO any shape below what he reached in 2024 will most likely lose to Vingegaard.
2024 shape is enough to win but will be within 2minutes, so close until the end.
So I hope he can find an other gear compared to 2024.
this.

all the big talk from visma about jonas' fabled "best ever" shape is nothing but talk. almeida roasted him easily in algarve on that climb. i recall similar rhetoric in 2024 "i'm putting out my best numbers ever"

Vingegaard did his best numbers ever in 2024 and he will improve his numbers this year. However, Pogacar will also improve so the question is: who is gonna improve more?
Pogacar reached a godly level this year again, that performance in MSR was otherworldly, even more than RVV.

Maybe it is the mental part ? I think Pogi is someone who needs to be stimulated to stay engaged thats why he prefers one day races, and always likes to go for the win any stage he can even when he doesnt need to during GTs.

Sierra Nevada is really empty, its like a moon base. So doing some recon will offer some diversity and keep him engaged while still training hard.

Teide is way worse to be honest but altitude training camps are done to increase a lot your fitness.
Sola said one thing very interesting. For him, more than your EPO getting higher, altitude training are very important because you don't have distractions there. No family, no friends, no hobbies, just you and your bike. Rest, training, eat, sleep. Just this.
Of course this is very hard for our mind. You are literally living in a bubble.

I think there is a chance that this year we get the best edition yet in the Vingegaard-Pogacar rivalry. I certainly hope so, anyway! Something like the first two weeks of the 2023 Tour, but carried on into the final couple of stages.

Agree. I too recall hearing similar from Visma before the 2024 tour. Then of course when Vingegaard was losing time every day in the 3rd week Visma started referring to his April crash.

What should be better this year is his 3rd week recovery. But I can’t see his peak sustained watts being much higher since PdB was supposedly his best ever performance on paper - better than when he won the Tour in 2022 and 2023.

Suspicions about Adam are confirmed. Today in problems again.
If he doesn't recover his shape for the Tour, and neither does Sivakov, that will be a problem for Pogacar in the mountains.

And his brother Simon is stronger in this Giro. Good news for Vingegaard.
What recovery? Don't you see the difference between recovery and ceilling? He will recover for sure however his level dropped significantly compared to 2 years ago.

Shots fired !

Vingegaard 2 days ago :

" I think I'm hungrier than ever. "

“My values already look promising. It seems that I have taken another small step and that I am better than last year and the year before.

"Of course I looked at how he performed in the spring. Besides, his spring doesn't mean he'll be that dominant in the Tour."
