Another great race today TP!

Yeah, at some point (around 1-1.5 km from the line) he had like 27-28 seconds but slowed down substantially at the end.

He held back very obviously far longer than that, check his body language almost slowing down several times ,just keeping the gap without revealing any numbers, it was super obvious, and almost looked like he actively had to slow down out of corners to maintain the current speed.

Then, when he got close to the finish line, he closed it down completely, job done. Smart and sensible, but it looked like he was on a coffee ride completely—quite the contrast to yesterday by his body language, where he clearly pushed.

He rode within himself, he had to, given how far out he attacked from.
Sure, he could have let loose the afterburners with a couple of kilometers from the finish line and distanced Vinge with another 20s, but he didn't need to.

But even if he rode within himself, I think he pushed quite hard, thanks to Vinge's pace. I mean, he was over 2 minutes ahead of Remco and nearly 4 minutes ahead of Tulett and the rest. Surely, he can't be that far ahead without pushing quite hard.

Generally if you are only 1 minute of Vingo in a GT, you don't let up at the end.

Given this is not a GT, I am delighted at least Pogi didn't go that far. He really didn't need to distance Vingo at all and could have still won the stage, if that was the goal.

That Vingo had to go face to the wind the entire climb seems to have been the only realistic goal.

Pogi being so dominating is pretty logical though if we follow his history.

He was already destroying everyone in 2020 and 2021 with rubbish training regime.

Now that he is finally training properly, of course he is going to be on an other planet..

I think the break will win tomorrow, unless Visma tries something. Today, Visma closed the gap with the break.
Tomorrow I think UAE will leave the break.

I think for the tour uae need to take majka in addition to yates and almeida. Should drop either one of sivakov,soler or narvaez.

Almost effortlessly class today.

Once again the lead out dropped all but Jonas and he could not hold the wheel of Tadej for more than about 50 metres after the launch.

Unless Jonas is seriously sandbagging then the actual level differential between the pair uphill looks to be at its largest in their whole 5 year rivalry.

Vingo's face cannot hide the pain. He's only gone full skeletor in a race maybe a fistful of times, and each time Pogi was curb stomping him.

I have to admit, I prefer him when he's got a proper rival. I loved the 2022 and 2023 TdFs for precisely that reason. I didn't mind the dominant victory last year, because I felt it was unrealistic for Jonas to be properly competitive following his injury. But I really hope at this year's Tour things are a bit closer between them. It's less fun when Pogacar crushes all opposition with such ease. And I say this as someone who really enjoyed the 2024 WC RR, so I'm not averse to long attacks/ crazy solo wins.

Still think the Tour will be quite close. Vingegaard certainly is still a bit undercooked. Visma maybe a bit overconfident with their "tire Pogi out" approach.

But if VIngegaard can stay at 6min to Pogacar last year with an objectively horrible prep, he will be way closer this year.

The competition has to step up, simple and plain.

Otherwise, he can only beat those who show up at the end of the day.

I don't think majka could have done the same that sivakov did today
