Considering the situation in the race, maybe Almeida won't be needed at all to set huge pace on last climbs for Pogacar. Visma is actually forced to do it in the Pyrenees already and Pog can use their train (like on PdB last year). Almeida could be needed in some tactical situations more i.e. when Pog needs to chase some dangerous guy or has a weaker day.

He is important because Matteo will probably attack and I don't know if Pogacar will have anyone to help him.

This is one of few situations when Almeida could be crucial (other is when Pog is on a worse day and needs help). I don't know how seriously Pogacar & UAE treat Jorgenson in the GC (I don't think Pogi fears him like he feared Roglic in 2022).

I don't think a attack from Matteo in the last climb should take any sleep to Pogacar but I can see a scenario where Kuss and Simon Yates drop every UAE rider (bar Pogacar) in the second last climb and Pogacar decides to respond to Matteo if he attacks. I fear that scenario in stage 18.

By stage 18 Pogi will be 5-10 minutes ahead of Matteo. Double attack by Visma makes more sense in the Pyrenees.

Assuming Pogi's condition holds, he just stays with the threats accordingly and depending on how far out the attacks come. So he goes with Jorgensen, which is just as much Vingo's problem as his own.

more like 15 minutes if everything goes according to plan. Talking about a 2 leader strategy with jorgenson is nonsense. But the relevance of almeida s the fact that if he's okay pog has the guarantee of arriving at the last climb with a teammate that can help, even by just bringing water for him

If they wait so long Matteo will be useless. The biggest danger is if UAE is weak on Hautacam. Then Jorgenson and Jonas can try to work over Pogacar.
Hautacam is not a danger at all. UAE will ride hard and Pogacar will attack without looking behind. He will be 3 minutes ahead of Matteo.

They will ride hard with who? We saw how Rabobank can easily suffocate them today.
If Yates and Kuss come into good shape they will shatter UAE.
I hope Almeida is healthy because Adam is looking bad.
