Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

This is one of few situations when Almeida could be crucial (other is when Pog is on a worse day and needs help). I don't know how seriously Pogacar & UAE treat Jorgenson in the GC (I don't think Pogi fears him like he feared Roglic in 2022).
Matteo Jorgenson isn't Roglic in the mountains.

If Almeida doesn't recover, I suppose Pogacar will one day do what he did in the Dauphiné or Zurich. A long-distance attack when he finds himself alone, and all the way to the finish line.

Sivakov, Soler, Narvaez and Yates. Did you see Combloux? They can do it. Visma will wait for UAE because they are afraid of Pogacar.
That day, they dropped on the longest mountain. The peloton then stopped and they were able to rejoin, but that won't help them in the Tour stages.

Sivakov will have to perform better than he did in the Dauphine and not be left behind on the penultimate climb, because he won't be able to return in the Tour.

They will not be more than 2 minutes behind of they get dropped. Pogacar can be 2 minutes behind Matteo and he will still catch him.

What is your definition of a bully ?

Standard one is : a person who habitually seeks to harm or intimidate those whom they perceive as vulnerable.

Not sure how you see Pogacar fitting this definition.

If I remember well, Pogačar did elicit criticism from teammates for being too nice and not assertive enough. Novak after 2024 Giro d'Italia comes to mind. And, to my recollection, an interview with his mother some years back claimed that he was anxious to diffuse tensions in the family by playing the clown.

While I would not draw conclusions based on any media narrative, clearly he is the push-overest push-over.

If Almeida continues, I hope he's only there to be the last domestique and then drop back and finish all the stages within 10 minutes and rest.

It would be a mistake for the UAE to have Almeida waste energy trying to reach the top 10. The podium finish was already debatable, but for a top 10 finish, he doesn't have to waste energy other than helping Pogacar beingh last domestique. When Pogacar attacks, let Almeida rest.

The only thing Visma has won so far is the ragebaiting battle(which I’m confused on why Pogi is making this a point to complain about Visma tactics back to back days)
Visma has been harshly attacking Pogacar for five years. Their attacks have been more from them than from the other side. It's clear that the relationship is bad, and there's tension at the Tour. And journalists, knowing this, ask him the right questions to get answers and then exaggerate the situation with biased headlines.

Today, a Dutch newspaper said that Pogacar mocked Visma yesterday. You see his statements, and he didn´t mock.

I wouldn't give it any more importance.

Today, some people are again saying that Vingegaard is stronger because he's on Pogacar's wheel on Pogacar's terrain.
Giro Stage 1: defeated by Narvaez and Schachamm.
San Luca Stage: Vingegaard on his wheel.
Dauphiné Stage 1: Vingegaard on his wheel.
Selective amnesia, and people like to fabricate narratives, which is why these post-stage statements are blown out like a snowball.

When Pogacar attacked in 2023, Visma said it was a waste of energy and synonymous with insecurity. Pogacar has made statements, but at no point has he called Vingegaard insecure.
What Pogacar said isn't even half of what they were saying to him.

He will drop time tomorrow. Stage 10 will also be very hard for him to be good so let's pray he is good to continue and then if the Tour is over, he can fight for a stage win.

At this point we have no idea what Roglic can deliver in the long climbs. His ride today was not him conserving energy.
Matteo would be more formidable if he weren't towing Jonas everywhere. Given an escape with someone like Roglic (if anyone would let that happen) it might be a good fight. There are still plenty of players in the wings to spoil the best strategy if they actually take initiative. Anyone currently staying close to Tadej may be prudently waiting for week 3 to preserve what they have, though.

It's a rivalry and it is obvious Visma is trying to annoy Pogacar. They need to annoy him and avoid a procession until Paris.
It really is thier only (slim) chance. They are also trying to fatigue him, and there is some evidence they have been successful. Pog has a tendency to look like he is headed to a photo shoot, as soon as he steps off the bike...he has not looked like that the last 2 days.
