I hope it doesn't backfire like Hautacam for them. There's a big difference between dropping on the last 5 or 10 km of a climb and then getting drop on a full gas Madeleine with 70 km to go with Loze still to go. That's obviously the scenario Im talking about. Probably won't happen, but Visma will try their absolute hardest now after what they saw yesterday.
They don't have another choice. Losing for 6 minutes is the same as losing for 1 second.I hope it doesn't backfire like Hautacam for them.
First, he must win yellow and then try to win on Champs Elysees.
If he is racing like this to conserve energy and doesn't race the Vuelta, I will be disappointed.Pogacar with his dominance is in such a position that everytime he doesn't win by 30+ secs people are calling him weaker.
The guy has a lead of 4:15 + 4 Stage Wins and can suck wheels every day if he wants to conserve energy.
I know us Pog fans want to see Poggenheimers every stage but he knows what he's doing.
Following the plan. Enjoy the show.
The plan after hopefully winning the Tour is:If he is racing like this to conserve energy and doesn't race the Vuelta, I will be disappointed.
Of course. The best season ever is Pogacar 2024. This beats 2024.The plan after hopefully winning the Tour is:
Winning Vuelta
Winning World's
Winning Lombardia
If he succeeds it will be the best season in history - much better than anything Merckx did.
I consider betting on Vingegaard, to be safe in every scenario. If pog wins, i'm happy otherwise i gain a *** load of money
I hope it doesn't backfire like Hautacam for them.
The probability that Vingo overcomes the gap is small of course. Visma's idea is that if Pog loses ie 40 seconds on Madeleine (or Pre) then Vingo helped by breakaway teammates will be able to gain much more on the remaining part of the stage (including false flat).
It can totally backfire: Vingo can crack instead or Pogi can limit his losses. But its the only way for Visma right now. Alps should be exciting!
They would go crazy even with a 1' gap.Yes, from a slightly neutral point of view, I think the bigger gap makes it much more exciting.
If the gap was 1-1.30, Vingegaard could just decide to nuke the final climbs.
Now with 4 minutes, Visma are forced to go crazy early and we may have a stage for the ages.
I love Tom in depth analysis. I still think he struggled a bit during the first attack (and also Jonas was on the limit) but overall looked stronger considering the entire climb. We will never know, his body language said the opposite, so smooth. And finished totally fresh...
I think the analysis of Tom Danielson are good and interesting as always
They would go crazy even with a 1' gap.
Yes, absolutely this!Pogacar with his dominance is in such a position that everytime he doesn't win by 30+ secs people are calling him weaker.

We will never know. But tomorrow is where the Tour will be decided, if Jonas can't drop Pogacar is game over.I don't think they would go crazy on Madeleine with 1' gap only.
Pretty much yeah.We will never know. But tomorrow is where the Tour will be decided, if Jonas can't drop Pogacar is game over.
He can't win a stage if he can't drop PogacarPretty much yeah.
If he doesn't drop him, I don't think he'll even try on Pre.
I can see a scenario where he is content to try for the stage only, as a confidence boost before the Vuelta.

I don't think he will go to the Vuelta if he lose the Tour.Pretty much yeah.

What else he would do?I don't think he will go to the Vuelta if he lose the Tour.
This doesn't make senseI don't think he will go to the Vuelta if he lose the Tour.
Yes, from a rational perspective, I agree with you. What else he would do?
Also, if he could be competitive in the Alps, he is definitely going.
Yes, from a rational perspective, I agree with you.
But thinking on a mental perspective, it will be just too much for him to be stomped in back to back GTs.
