Alex Dowsett on the ITV commentary noted that Pogacar is still wearing bandages and I suspect some of his apparent malaise in the last 9 days might be attributable to the stage 11 crash, which was not trivial. I do wonder if his exertions on stages 12 and 13 saw him writing cheques that his body was very reluctant to cash. Interestingly, Tom Danielson (who against all my prejudices says some quite interesting things on occasion) made an interesting observation in one of his podcasts that crashes take far more out of cyclists than people like us would imagine.

As for MVDP as the best classics rider, I have no problem with that as a statement (MSR, PR, RV). We are collectively extraordinarily lucky to be watching him and even luckier that Pogacar has been challenging him over the last 3 years.

Sorry but it's hard to consider MVP the best when you archrival can win 3 monuments this year and finish all 5 on the podium (while fighting for the win in all of them). There is really no debate.
MVP can't do this, not even in his best dreams.

So he plans to retire in 2030.Hes got 5 years to clean everything, doable.
The pbm is he said he proved to himself what he can achieve & now he will split the focus doing other things & thats not a good news for his fans cause it means that he isn't obsessed anymore as he used to be & might not train as hard as he used to be which u may think the next 5 years wont be as good as the past 5

He wants vacations. Let's see how strong he will be in 2 months.

If he does skip the Vuelta it will be to keep the team happy - which was what Geraint Thomas said was the resaon last year - nothing to do with fatigue IMO. All the more so because UAE made such a giant mess of the Giro.

It clearly says ''Pogacar não participa e o português será líder da UAE Emirates, a par do espanhol Juan Ayuso''.
Dude, I'm portuguese. Read the full article.

"Tadej Pogacar não vai participar na Volta à Espanha e a liderança da UAE Team Emirates vai estar a cargo de João Almeida e do espanhol Juan Ayuso. A notícia foi avançada na manhã desta segunda feita pelo jornal As, informando ainda que o vencedor do Tour vai anunciar a decisão na quarta-feira."

They followed what As said this morning. Pogacar didn't announce anything.

No Vuelta I feel like is 90-95% at this point. Im with Tom Danielson's takes in regards to Tadej's last week - crash and sickness hampered him, his body didn't feel right, it was cold, pre and post stages interviews etc. etc. That takes a toll on your body and at that point, you just wanna go home with the Maillot Jaune and call it a day. He needs to chill in Monaco for a while now!

Rwanda big goal, Lombardia is a wrap as well if he's in shape. I wonder if he will race in Canada or not this year. What are the alternatives? Maybe he just doesn't do any races leading up to it, that could be an option as well. Its not like he really needs it, but Canada is usually good prep, but will be a lot of travelling
