Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

In a short race, I think the weaker team will be more noticeable.
There will be more movement and many riders who fail at long distances will be better at 200 kilometer race.

On the Paris stage, apart from being exhausted, he had to cover Jorgenson and Van Aert attacks. Apart being at his limit that week of the Tour, that was what finished his options.
Looking at the PCS updates lots of riders are avoiding Pogacar. Beyond Remco and Jonas the field lacks a lot of depth whilst the field for Emilia is absolutely stacked with riders from the 2nd/3rd tiers looking to claim a notable win.

There won’t be that many viable riders to cover even with the shorter distance and duration being more palatable for many riders.

I just responded MVP couldn't win GdL even without Pogacar because Miss Violet said "Not to mention Lombardia". So even if Pog and MVP were teammates and Pog helped MVP in GdL, he couldn't win it.
i read that differently than you did. I see Violet as wanting to see MVP in the race rather than thinking he'll win it.

The LBL ship has sailed. MVP lost weight to try it and came up with a 3rd, best of the rest. @Krzysztof_O might be crazy enough to believe it.

In my view, the combined likelihood of a) MVDP and Pogačar being teammates and b)Pogačar riding for MVDP in GdL is about the same as MVDP winning GdL.

But I'd sure like to see him try.

I'm crazy but Evenepoel and also some other guys (like Pidcocks, Healys) would likely be too good for MVP in Liege. Not sure where Lombardy discussion even came from: MVP can't climb proper cols and win it.

No. He said: The only GT that either Pogacar, Roglic or Vingegaard finished, but didn't win was the Vuelta 2023...
Think on them as a group. This group was represented in the Vuelta 2023 and didn't win.
But let's move on, Roglic is past his prime, Vingegaard is close to retirement IMO (until 2028) and Pogacar will fade some day. I think the new generation will finally start to win after 2028.

2029 is still a long way off. It's will very tough time for those who don't like Pogacar. It's the same situation as MotoGP fans who don't like Marc Marquez right now...

Hopefully, Del Toro, Ayuso, or another young guns will improve their games.

In sports things can change quickly. Pogacar's supremacy is strong but let's see how strong his motivation will be. As for Marquez, give the guy a break. He needed 5 years to come back to the top after his struggles. Otherwise he would likely be sitting with 10+ MotoGP titles (instead of 7).

The forum has been losing faith in Ayuso, and now he left the best team in the world (results) to Lidl, a team more suited to classics/sprints (like the old Quickstep).

Del Toro has problems with his TT. He is not bad but he is not good compared to Vingegaard/Pogacar. This means he will have to be a better climber and this is a big if, specially with Pogacar.

Paul Seixas is still too young so a big question mark however his ability looks tailormade to conquer GTs in the future. Great TT and great mountain ability. He seems to miss some punch though.

The best team in the world for GT is Visma.
Only Pogacar has won a GT in the UAE.
Visma has won with four different riders. Even Simon, after seven years without a win, achieved his second GT in just a few months in Visma.

2024: UAE 2 GT titles, Visma 0
2025: UAE 1 GT title, Visma 2

Yes, this year Visma are the best GT team. But, for last two years UAE are the best.

In the future, UAE look more promising than Visma. Remember Del Toro almost win Giro 2025. He lost Giro because his inexperince.
