Guys, if you ever feel bummed out on a Monday, just be thankful youre not a professional cyclist in this generation and have to race against Pogi. Poor souls.
It's normal. The day after he destroyed everyone. It's just incredible how all commentators never mentioned the crash during week 2 and 3 of the tour. If it was another rider who crashed like that they would still be talking today about how it affected him. Now we have the confirmation from pog himself that something went wrong at the tour. It might be a combination of the effects of a bad crash and the 2 big efforts in hautacam and peyragudes that led to the knee problem and also the cold in week 3. Taking into account all of this it's fair to say his level in 2025 tour was even higher than in 2024 and his gap to vingegaard even bigger
... I've cheered for both Vermeersch brothers right from they entered the scene....

Did an amateur guy really do 6w/kg?That's why this British lawyer who can climb at 6+ w/kg is not a pro and only races charity events vs Pogi (and wins).
still it's clear from week 3 that something went wrong with his body so the connection with the crash is very easy, at least they should have mentioned itIt's normal. The day after he destroyed everyone.
You're absolutely right. With others, they would have spent the entire Tour complaining and talking about asterisks, they always do.still it's clear from week 3 that something went wrong with his body so the connection with the crash is very easy, at least they should have mentioned it
They said he did like 6.2 W/kg and he deduced that Pogi probably did close to 7 W/kg. Pogi gave everyone a 6 minute headstart and Feather was able to stay away by around 3 minutes in the end.Did an amateur guy really do 6w/kg?
That guy could be a professionalThey said he did like 6.2 W/kg and he deduced that Pogi probably did close to 7 W/kg. Pogi gave everyone a 6 minute headstart and Feather was able to stay away by around 2 and a half to 3 minutes in the end.
Also, Feather was apparently a multiple national hill climb champion.
If Simmons rides Ganda one minute slower he's fresh enough to follow Pog over the top. Instead he blew himself up (although not as bad as Del Toro and many others) trying to follow the pace of Pog and then Remco.Other thing, Simmons had (IIRC) a 2'40" lead before Ganda, he lost 4' in 9 km. Another 2'20" until the end of the race. So Simmons even with a 5' lead would not win GdL.
An amateur won my local hill climb last week with 6.2 w/kg for 42 minutes before adjusting for altitude.Did an amateur guy really do 6w/kg?
Stage 16: 5th, gapped Vingegaard in a sprint a deux behind the breakawaystill it's clear from week 3 that something went wrong with his body
Stage 16: 5th, gapped Vingegaard in a sprint a deux behind the breakaway
Stage 17: 27th, comfortably in top quarter of peloton in a big bunch finish
Stage 18: 2nd, took considerable amount of time out of Vingegaard in last part of stage behind a breakaway
Stage 19: 3rd, finished same time as Vingegaard
Stage 20: 32nd, comfortably in top third of peloton with no attempt to go after breakaway
Stage 21: 4th having been beaten on cobbled climb by one of the foremost cobbles/CX riders of his generation who had enjoyed un unstressed Tour until then.
Given that his primary goal for the week was to not lose more than 4 minutes to Vingegaard, what was clear?
pogacar on top form would have won 2/3 stages in week 3, dropped vingegaard easily (just like in dauphine and hautacam) and would never have been dropped by van aert. Just look at his week 3 in tour de france 2024. If it's not clear to you that something went wrong I don't know what to tell you. Very strange to just say this today.Pogacar himself confirms that he had problems at the Tour, he mentions his knee.

"I doubted if I'd continue - My body was in shock": Tadej Pogacar reveals how close he came to abandoning 'hardest Tour de France yet'
Tadej Pogacar has admitted that he came close to climbing off his bike during what he described as the hardest Tour de France of his career in 2025, revealing that knee pain and freezing conditions in...cyclinguptodate.com
Can you explain how this would happen? If Simmons rides Ganda one minute slower he's fresh enough to follow Pog over the top. Instead he blew himself up (although not as bad as Del Toro and many others) trying to follow the pace of Pog and then Remco.
If you don't think the team matters then why is uae dishing out millions to anyone besides Pog...
I don't know, maybe sickness maybe his knee. It's clear he wasn't at the same level he showed in the first 2 weeks.still it's clear from week 3 that something went wrong with his body so the connection with the crash is very easy, at least they should have mentioned it
Which race is Pogačar's best in his career? " We were thinking about this in the car on the way back from Lombardy, and I think last year's World Championship was still my best race. It's hard to choose one, but last year I became world champion for the first time, it was less expected than this year. I arrived at the finish line broken, completely tired, I will never forget that. "“The second week the route really suited me, I rode the time trial superbly, and then came the last week. I wanted to win in the Alps, especially to get revenge on the Loze Pass. To be honest, not everything went according to plan. One day after Ventoux I had problems with my knee and there were doubts whether I would be able to continue at all. The weather was bad, it was very cold. ”
"My body was in shock, I didn't feel my best. But a three-week race is not easy, every cyclist has problems. We are often tired after the first week, and then you have two more "
The knee stuff is new for me, maybe then he didn't have the flu despite him dressing up as if it's winter after every stage, but rather after the crash and big efforts the 2 days after, the injuries caught up to him and put his body into a shock. Luckily the Ventoux stage was sunny at least, could've been a worse end otherwise.
It's not blindingly obvious to me. I don't see how it can be blindingly obvious to anyone who doesn't come to the situation with a particular mindset. If it's not clear to you that something went wrong I don't know what to tell you.
