Reading some Mexicans on social media, I'm not sure if I want Del Toro to go to the Tour as a domestique :tearsofjoy: .
It's going to be an Ayuso 2.0. Even if Del Toro thinks differently, that media frenzy isn't good for a Tour. Winning his fifth Tour is crucial, and Pogacar needs a team free of media problems.
Pogacar is fed up with all the circus surrounding the Tour.; the last thing he needs is to add Mexican journalists.

In Lombardy they let Del Toro focus on his position, but in the Tour they can't do that. Besides, Almeida is already thingin in his result, and one domestique focused on the podium is enough.
Why? Pogacar won the 2024 TdF and Almeida was riding for his 4th place since PdB.

Just because he's done it once doesn't mean he should go into the Tour with the preconceived notion that another cyclist is thinking about his result.

In any case, you're talking about one, not two. By the way, we already saw what happens when two domestiques want to be on the podium and therefore don't want to be the one sacrificed on the Galibier...
And all the media hype surrounding Del Toro is very tiresome; I don't even want to think about what that would be like in the Tour.
Pogacar would retire on the second day :sob:

Almeida went to help and he did. Maybe you don't remember but Almeida worked a lot for Pogacar on Galibier and Adet. When Pogacar closed the TdF on stage 15, Almeida had a free card to play his own Tour. Ayuso tried to not work already on Galibier.
Regarding Del Toro, I'm pretty sure he will work if he rides the TdF. Probably will get a chance to ride his own race because I'm pretty sure Pogacar will close the Tour on Tourmalet.

That's not true. Tour Down under is a very special race to Pogacar.

And? The Vuelta is also special to him because it was his first Grand Tour and where he won his first stages. Pogacar has always said that the Vuelta is special to him, but he hasn't returned.T
his news doesn't make sense because Pogacar is currently prioritizing other things over nostalgia or early professional memories.

I didn't say he will race, I'm just saying it's not ridiculous to think Pogacar will race the Tour Down Under.

Starting the season in January doesn't make sense to him right now. It would be a mistake.

The Vuelta is just as, if not more, special for him, and other factors have prevailed.
Adapting the start of the season to January would be a bad decision.

Makes perfect sense for some early days and in a race/country that could be fun to just race. Especially, with the WC jersey.... before focusing on classics.

Can we ban the word "Vuelta" in here? Nobody cares.

I don't know if it's good for him. He knows better than us. However, I remember him saying he would like to spend more time at home with Urska. I think he needs going to Australia is not that great, specially when he will be far from home when he starts RVV.

RVV
PR
AGR
FW
LBL
4 or 5 days at home and then Sierra Nevada
Tour recons
Dauphiné/Suisse
Isola
TdF

He will just break after the Tour. I don't know if there is any possibility of Urska going to Australia but if she is not going, I can't see Pogacar going there to be honest.
I can be totally wrong though.

I think this is overthinking it.

If Pogacar doesnt want post Tour burnout feelings again he had better limit his spring classics schudule to monuments only. Even then Vuelta would probably be too much ( due to neccesity of peaking for cobbled monuments, which is a bit different). IMO its cobbles vs Vuelta choice given that the Tour is a must.
