It was raining.
Which makes me even more concerned about motors. Then again, it is doubtful that the kind of motor that you would expect to help during this acceleration (200W+ max power output) could be viable in cycling. Also, why don‘t the other guys do that too? Is it that secret? Or is Pogi really just the mythical BRTROAT (Best responder to rain of all time)

Also worth noting that Christen and McNulty after working their socks off still beat the likes of Formolo, Alaphilippe, Sheffield, and Laurance. It's not just Pogi, it's the entire team.

Maybe he's the only one who's able to consume the oxygen directly from the rain water without having to drink it.

Yeah, that’s not exactly going to help put the conspiracy theories to rest, is it? Looking at it a few times, the acceleration is really weird in comparison to the apparent effort. He doesn’t even get off his seat. There is very little body roll. There *is* a little increase in pedal cadence but never enough to just put in twenty meters of distance over a very steep incline. In short, I think that looked like a guy on an e-bike accelerating was from guys on pure pedal bikes.

This would be in line with a German "fitness" influencer claiming that we drink 2 liters of water through our skin while showering. Pogacar might take in oxygen instead of water. Which makes him both lighter and more powerful than the opponents.

Yeah though also worth saying it's UAE's first really good performance all spring as a collective, they were awful in the cobbled races (except PR) and good not great at Amstel. This was the most bizarre we've seen them in a while, and it came from nowhere.

I'm just not going to watch races with this clown in them anymore. What's the point. Its so freaking obvious, but it's like hitting your head against a wall to get through to people.

Media, whatever size never offer scrutiny because there is nothing in it for them to do so.

The backroom staff are all doping men who shouldn't be anywhere near the sport. Funded by a sports washing nation state who are obviously in the sport because what they like cycling and "taking part"
i've stopped watching RR because of this clown a year ago. even the races he's not doing - more time to enjoy my bike and i'm still very much enjoying the xco/dh races.

I can't say that I see it, I've looked at it again a few times now (the initial acceleration) and it does look like he's pedalling much faster than the other guys there for a moment. He looks really fast, to fast for this kind of climb, so it looks unnatural, but I don't see what you guys seem to be seing. But I don't claim it can't be seen, it's just not my perception. Might depend what one exactly focuses on.

Are some people really willing to believe in humans being capable of transferring oxygen from water outside the body to the blood stream before e-bikes?

According to the internet humans are willing to believe pretty much everything.
We haven't talked about the possibility of exotic matter in his motor yet, for example. Or that he's actually a perpetuum mobile.
My explanation for Froom has always been that he's an insectoid shapeshifter.
There's really a lot to choose from. Reality is just one option, and it's ever so clouded.

fwiw I didn't actually think anything of Pogi's attack as it happened, so seeing the sudden rush of comments in this thread was quite funny.

It reminds me of being on the club ride with someone who has about twice the ftp of myself and about 3 times the 30 second power. Zero chance of being anywhere near them on a climb.

I don’t really have a clue what’s going on, so I’m not going to call it one way or the other. However, I’ve said in the past that there is more than one indicator that this guy is ‘off’. Today we saw an acceleration from a group of world class riders that opened up a twenty meter gap in a few seconds. With hardly any sign of a huge effort and what that usually looks like. Not to mention that he has that in his locker after a very hard ride and when everyone else was peddling squares.
Beyond this race, a few telltale patterns are already well established. Pogacar doesnt seem to have a red zone. On the big climbs he can accelerate uphill at altitude and then keep the pace going. Very little easing off. People used to complain about the Sky Train keeping the effort so high that no one could attack without going into the red very quickly and having to pay for it. Stage wins were measured in seconds usually. Now we have a peloton going even faster, but Pogacar just destroys the field, and he does it day after day. No negative effects from the previous days efforts. No off days really.
And now we’re probably going to see a guy who has had a huge spring classics workload who will now effortlessly segue into a GT effort without any drop off in performance. Very weird at least. And my eyes and my brain tell me it’s too good to be true.

reminds me of the Sky train when they had 2 or 3 guys who did massive work on the front beat GC riders on summit finishes

Watch the post race interview, he just won, didn't, couldn't smile.. Week after week his child like enthusiasm is draining ..he looks like he is coming back down to earth ,close wins, multiple crashes and multiple loses.. He is looking and acting human.
