Its too bad that we no longer have a David Walsh like reporter calling he and Mauro out. Also, I find it so hypocritical that Lance and his MOVE podcast never mention anything "doping" pertaining to their race reviews.

Surely the purported benefits of keytones (sparing glycogen) are more important in stage racing than one day races? Keytones became a popular subject during the reign of Sky.

I do think something is going on at the big teams since 2021 but keytones do not explain what Pog has demonstrated in classics (or Vingo at the TdF). I think keytones are a convenient distraction - look over there !

Saving glycogen matters in any form of hard races. Actually long one-day races alongside with hard mountain stages are situations when it's needed most.

They have made suggestive comments many times, but always turn away from being explicit because they probably have not much of a clue of what is going on in the peloton. I tend to believe Bruyneel does know and stays away from it. Lance comes across of as not really wanting to know. He'd rather watch golf than a race.

It's like this is the chain of events ...

Evenepoel decides, let's drop the hammer and win from a distance. Make a statement.

Vingegaard says, hold my drink (cup of milk or somethin') ... gonna make a statement in this next race.

Pogačar says hold my drink ...

Roglic says, you influencers are not going to influence me (though a TTT might)...

David Walsh the Sky apologist? I'd rather have the silence we have now, thanks.

I think Lance realizes no one wants to hear him comment on doping. They allude to it however, and then quickly move off the topic. He's just not going there.

if Matxin was that magician everybody says he is, he'd have Jumboed the Cipressa, instead of having the team fade
LOL. Matxin is definitely not all that, is he? But everyone is pretty dang fast, and MSR is just not selective in terms of gradients. If there were some sharp climbs at the end it would be frightening to see the Z2 dude destroy everyone.

Puncheur? Rouleur? Sprinter? Climber? Time trial specialist? GT focused? 1 week races? Classics? One peak or all year long? How about all of the above :p

Doing everything awesome is the new specialization.

As long as you're friends with everyone it's all good, right?
I mean, yeah. That's how Indurain did it- if you want your reputation to be good even if basically nobody actually thinks you were squeaky clean, it's best to just be the guy everyone likes and nobody wants to speak out against.

He.Wasn't.Even.Breathing.Hard.
If it were less miserable he would have been smiling and joking more with the camera crew while he rode 1 to 3 km/hr faster than everyone behind him.

All cruise control. Don't you love the maxed out look of everyone behind him?

I wonder how many minutes he will win by the end.

With the specialization and targeting of races that now takes place, this is pretty laughable stuff.

Good trolling material though!

I think this is excellent. It gives license to Vingegaard to go pedal to the metal as well. As long as it's not one rider/team that dominates, they can keep going faster and faster.

Anything you can do, I can do better. I can do everything, better than you ...

I can climb

I can time trial

I can sprint

I can tolerate cold rain

I supposedly can now tolerate heat

Long distance, or short distance, neither are a problem for me

Stage races or classics, all works for me

Peaking? Who needs to peak when you can ride everyone off your wheel all year long

I also need to make sure I'm extra nice, so that way I can beat the fisherman in the charisma game

Look at the first two stages of Catalunya:
Yesterday one guy made the rest look like amateurs in a sprint to the line, an anaerobic effort. Maybe the guy can't climb? Well, today he did the same during an aerobic effort on a long climb.
The true watt monster, the king of anaerobic and aerobic power!
