is it really a suprise radioshack missed the break?

zubeldia and levi are too high in the GC to be allowed to go which only leaves 3 of them.

TGBM in the break...lets hope he doesn't hold back so much like yesterday. :p

If he gets dropped its because he's ill and nothing else. He's a great rider!

Its not like there were a 100 attempts to form the break today, even those 3 didn't try.

Bruyneel said the focus was now on stage wins. They have some pretty good climbers on the team. I would have thought Irizar would want to show something in the Pyrenées, Paulinho won an intermediate stage last year and that just leaves Muravyev.

They can still attack though.

Muravyev has done nothing and I'm not sure he's up to it this year. Dumb selection as they should of had Hermans, McEwen or somebody in there.

Why wasn't Busche selected?

I don't think it matters that Saxo doesn't have anyone in the break. Leopard Trek still needs to put time into Cuddles today (they've got time on AC), so when the time comes they will have to animate the race.

Probably has to do with him having never ridden a GT before. Bruyneel usually doesn't throw a potential overall classification rider into the TdF as his first GT.

This must be the tactic from the other GC teams. Force Saxo to the front. Until Riis calls their bluff - unless they really want to give the yellow to Casar

Even so, when Leopard tried to set the pace on the Tourmalet the whole team faded quite quickly exacept Voigt so without Voigt and Gerdemann it will be interesting how they will look to split the race apart unless a team like Liquigas comes to the front and chases.

this is true - but I still think they will be weary of Contador though....anything can happen in this bike race

By all indications he's called their bluff. If I didn't know any better, I wouldn't think Saxo had ANY riders in the peloton--they really do a great job of hiding :p

Of course. Helps that my 3 year old woke up at 0230 (and no, that wasn't a pleasant wake up call).

Been up for 3 hrs now for same reason...I found a stream in German so been watching the stage since it started. Like many of the riders, I hope I can hang on till the final climb.

Why would Saxo go to the front? Giving Casar the yellow isn't a problem, so there is no need to work. Actually, the bigger the gap, the less likely it becomes they will see Voigt and Gerderman back before the finish. So for Saxo letting the gap grow might actually be a good tactic.

I think Voigt and Gerdemann would just drop back in that case. Taking 13th place or whatever in Beille means nothing to them.

I hate Europcar, they're ruining this race. Voeckler should have never gotten the yellow jersey, their team is pathetic, they can't even drop Cavendish.

It's not like Voigt and Gerdemann are obliged to stay in the break. If there's a a significant lead ar Port de Lers they still can ease up and wait for the GC group
