Don't mean to single you out, but I'm quoting because this is what many seem to be saying about Farrar...but c'mon, they put a mike in his face 2 minutes after he has barely lost, he's exhausted and angry because of his own sense he could have won today, so he throws out accusations without filtering what he's saying. You're going to hold that 15 seconds of what everyone is calling "sour grapes" against him? And what other taste would you folks have in your mouths after losing like that? Sweet grapes?

Full disclosure: he's from my state (Washington), so I am biased.

I agree and I'm biased against Farrar after inflicting those god awful adverts on me for the whole of last summer! I would never judge anyone by what they say to the press. (Unless it was something like "Yes it was me. I killed all of them and I want to kill more people" )

For a man who didn't want the green jersey, Cavendish sure went the whole hog in 2009:

Yea, sure, he didn't want that jersey. Don't think he was too bothered once he couldn't get it given that he already had all those stage wins, but saying he didn't want the jersey is revisionist on the part of both him and the team.

And this is a reason to cast aspersions on another rider?

Cavendish is the first man to win four stages in four consecutive Tours. Might apply to GTs in general but I haven't checked.

[edit] Nope, Super Mario won 4, 5, 4 and 4 in the Giros between 96 and 99.

Cav only gives a **** when he wins. He had the nerve to say that Prudhomme was making it hard for him on purpose because he didn't want HTC to dominate anymore.

But he obviously did. It's not good for the Tour for one rider to win double digit stages, which would've been possible if things continued like they did.

The guy whines and cries about every race if he doesn't win. He doesn't respect anything as he's a fat *** in every race except July. I hope the Giro doesn't invite Cav anymore then :) He was a joke there lol.

Yeah he whines often, but that's because he cares. ;)

And re: Giro. Literally almost any other cyclist in the world except some of the GC guys would have considered winning 2 stage + the TTT + wearing the maglia rosa a huge success.

Remember when only Cipollini did that kind of stuff and it was tacky as hell?

He's riding the Vuelta this year, and presumably Giro & Tour next year. Decent shot at at least 1 stage win (he'll likely get 2 or more in all) in 7 GTs in a row, having ridden Tour, vuelta, giro, tour already.

If its not a record it must be close.

On time cuts: If you can't ride within 10-15 % of the winner you don't deserve to ride the Tour, and it's probably not good for you either. It may encourage doping, but so do intermediate sprints and KOM points and time bonuses and and and... If you can't make the time cut without doping, you aren't not good enough. It's big enough already.

Voeckler is a more worthy yellow jersey holder in the end and thats what counts. A far superior rider than Thor for yellow in the biggest race with a chance of a podium and not just for show.
Uh, okay... How does that work? Tommy got the jersey because of a crash and strong riding. Thor got it from the TTT and from riding very well on the first stage. Tommy's defended it now when everyone thought he couldn't, just like Thor. They've both proved themselves extremely worthy yellow jersey holders. It's a bit early to say whether Tommy will be anywhere near the podium in Paris.

He and Renshaw were along with Robbie Hunter whinging about the Giro not having enough sprint stages as well (apparently a finish where Petacchi is second and Kristoff is third isn't a proper bunch sprint). (Edit: Third and fourth is right... and thinking about it he may have a point in that case...)

I just found out that Parrulo got his posts deleted on this thread and banned?? ****ing ridiculous.
Sorry for going of topic but that is seriously dumb from the mods. They should hang their heads in shame for being stupid and overly sensitive.

I don't think 2 in 7 is much of a record, more a question of being lucky with injury and being well-protected. I'd rather see Cav go after Zabel's green jerseys or Ale-Jet's 9 stages in one GT. I'll be amazed if we see a GT with 9 finishes Cav can contest in the next three years though.

It's a cycling thread. I'd be pretty annoyed if someone from Jerhova's Witness came on here recruiting, so I don't see why what he was doing should be any different. Anyhow I'm off to watch top gear.

It'd be a pretty amazing record. How many riders ever ride 7 in a row? Very very few.

How many are good enough to win 2 stages in any GT? Very very few.

Combining the two would insane. Not something he is consciously going for, but an incredible marker of his dominance, and far tougher to achieve than several green jerseys.

Either way:

the tactic of all the other "sprinters" teams of trying to annoy Cav seems to be working, reminds me of someone poking a stick in a tigers cage. Maybe they should now tell him they all actually love him and buy him loads of prezzies to see if that tactic works. Nothing else has:p

making veiled comments about another riders clinic integrity is pretty low if you're not prepared to back it up:mad:

Stage 14 was actually held behind closed doors, the spectators/officials and other team staff were all hired by HTC. Oh yeah, Cav changed from his Specialised on to a 600cc Honda as well for about 50km. My mate Jimmy actually saw him do it but had already filled up his memory card so didn't get a pic;)

Which only shows how easy sprinters have it :)

Sure, it's dangerous, but they obviously don't care about that.

That was Cav's response to Ventoso's accusation he got towed, I seem to remember.
