HTC are Ruthless, I kind of respect them for that and this JV stuff is just sour grapes.

Garmin had a great unexpected win yesterday but JV is still whining like a schoolgirl lol. Its top line racing not school sports day or triathlon or anything.

Wow, he did look p*ssed. :p To join in on the speculation, I think he was hinting to Cav cheating to make the time cut yesterday. If he was dropped from the gruppetto for 70 km it doesn't make much sense that he would be in it at the finish.

Agreed!
Logic and reason prevail.

Add to that, if he is such bad shape he cant hang with the laughing group, how the hell is he at the front going 60 kph (Levi actually siad they were at one poing going 48 mph, comletely spun out) for 10-15 minutes the last 10 km, and then sprinting for victory. Unless of course, he had a really east day before, unlike most of the riders.

Yeah, I liked Cav's description of the finish, when he said, "It wasn't normal," to look around and see Ivan Basso and Alberto Contador racing right up at the front!

What did JV do?

You're probably right, it's not like anyone's ever been accused of something they didn't do before, so it would be churlish to expect any actual evidence.

i don't think he was referring to cav cheating to make the time cut. i think he was talking about how "frustrated" he was that cav could perform today (with accompanying implications). farrar didn't say, oh, it was surprising how cav managed to make the time cut after being dropped so far back (which would imply car cheating). instead, he said that it was a "remarkable comeback" given that he had been dropped yesterday yet still able to beat tyler today implying i think that if he was in such bad shape yesterday, he should not be in the form he was today to be competitive.

that's my literary analysis for the day :).

to all the doubters and accusers, i say, show some proof or just accept that the manxman is one of the greatest, and yeah, it's a bummer to lose.

I think Farrar is just bitterly disappointed that he was the fastest today and didn't win. Then he did his best Cavendish impersonation by opening his mouth and saying things that he'll probably regret.

Going over the 5th climb he was 1.32 behind then after the descent they said 4 of them did a mini ttt to catch up with the grouppeto on the valley floor. Also It's been well documented that because of his areo position whilst in the peleton he is able to conserve a lot of enegy therefore giving him that extra kick at the end.

The thing with riders hanging on to cars is a bit daft anyway. They only do it to beat the time limit and the time limit is only there so the organisers can pack up in good time (and not annoy the unions). It's not there for really sporting reasons.

They should slacken off the time limit (especially with these new intermediate sprints). Tight limits encourage doping amongst lesser names and wear out potential breakaway riders for the flat stages.

Absolutely.

Bottom line: The Cav wannabees want Cav out of the race, but with him, goes all that HTC work.

Look what happened when the peloton was left in JV's capable hands.
Thor lost the yellow jersey, because the team couldn't get anywhere near catching Tommy Voeckler.

Sour grapes as usual from Garmin, look what they did to Renshaw last year because they couldn't take being beaten.

What did they do to Renshaw? Renshaw got himself kicked out by being even more of a bullying jerk than normal. Nothing to do with Garmin.

Or he could be frustrated that he was beaten by someone who may have cheated to stay in the race.

You aren't making a lot of sense here. Thor only lost the jersey because they let the break have an extra four minutes when Vino, VDB etc. crashed.

Been here before in the Giro. When push came to shove the only evidence was photos of numerous riders who wernt Mark Cavendish cheating.

End of the day sprinters have big egos, its part of what makes them good at their job. This can mean that in the heat of the moment they say something that they dont really mean and regret afterwards.

Dean thought - as he always do - that he was a fast bike rider. He wasn't and he isn't and made the sprint very dangerous with his pathetic attempt to lead out Farrar last.year. Not the first time he has done that.

Well if there arent time limits, theres nothing to stop the Gruppeto taking it very easy and coming in 3 hours after the winner.

Finishing the Tour would also be a lot less of an achievment.

And it would play havoc with the Lantern Rouge standings;)

Obviously another flat stage that you failed to watch.

JV said they tried to close down the break, but couldn't because Dave Zee was their engine and he was out with his broken wrist.
They tried, they failed.

So that excuses Renshaw headbutting him and then veering wildly from one side of the road to the other sticking Farrar in the barriers?

Julian Dean thinks he's better than he is, sure. But Renshaw was crazy in that stage.

The problem is, how do you punish a leadout man? I mean, Renshaw won't care if you demote him to last in the sprint. You can't take Cav's win away from him because of Renshaw being a dangerous idiot because Cav didn't do anything wrong. They took the nuclear option.

It's not like Renshaw's averse to getting a bit, or even a lot, physical, is it. He could have moved over - there was space, but that was the space Cavendish was supposed to come through, so Renshaw wouldn't yield into it. Dean was heavyhanded and a bit too pushy, but Renshaw's reaction was over-the-top, and way out of line.
